At least pro wrestlers are now admitting that they are actors following a script. Hey, we have to start somewhere.

Comment:we all have a spirit and a soul and believe it or not, this is part of the spiritual world. When we die, our spirits will become alive...our spirits are little parts of GOD...Jesus, God's son is the greatest teacher. Everything that he teaches prepares us to become holy or good spirirts in the eyes of God...we all have to be prepared for heaven. In this dying world or 'hell'...we will all parish and all we'll have is our souls and it is our decision if we have evil (devilish) or good (Godly) souls. To have a pure soul is what God wants. People are just too sinful and indulged in temptation to want to commit to God and his values. They are more for satanic activities than pure activities. He is our father and created us all. This is true. Without faith, you will parish in this dying, troublesome world. He is my hope and inspiration. I look at Jesus who was condemd and never scolded anyone. He was tempeted in the desert and never gave in. He is my advisor and my saviour! And best friend. Amen. :) WWJD!!!!!!!!!!!

Subject:Contradiction & Replacing Religion...
Comment:Let me go out on a limb for a bit and posit that God does actually exist. Generally speaking, all religions subscribe to a set of rules as layed out in a sort of manuscript, be it the bible, the Koran or whatever. These days any 'legitimate' (used with caution) Religion has one God. (Digression -> With the exception of Catholicism which has three candidates, God, The son of God and the Holy Spirit. In the middle ages, A Pope was asked how many 'Gods' are catholics praying to? First they were convinced it was 3 then he changed his mind and said all three were the same entity. Today there are a load of Catholics who would give contradictory answers) The mere IDEA of 'God' says there is only one 'God'. Thus, with so many religions praying to their own 'God', which one has the right one? Here lies' the biggest contradiction of all...the mere fact that we have more than one religion in our world, each one with it's own omnipotent being. To argue they are all correct is to create a paradox. What happens when religion is pitted against religion? Historically, many people die agonising deaths as each side 'Fights' each other for the right to call their God supreme. Here lies another contradiction; If I remember my religious education correctly, Religion was supposed to be about love (esp. of fellow man) not war. Now lets grab the biggest imaginary ruler you can find in your head. Zero, is the beginning of human civilisation and at the other end we have the year 2002....

Comment:..........Lets look at history on this big ruler from afar so we can see the whole thing in one catch of the eye. Now 'Overlay' what is known about our knowledge progression throughout the eons. You will notice that the time between significant advances in our understanding of our world has got shorter and shorter as we get closer to the present day. There are exceptions to this rule (no pun intended) These exceptions lay in the areas of history where religion has held the balance of power, eg; Just before the Dark Ages we had the Burning of all the books that contradicted a religious doctrine(not to mention burned people) Hence; this IS why we had 800 years of the dark ages (or Human Knowledge Retardation, as I like to call it) which officially finised at the end of the 16th century. It is called the dark ages because they were 800 years of which we know next to nothing about due to the tight grip Religion had at the time.........

Subject:Contradiction & Replacing Religion...
Comment:..............Jostein Gaarders' book, 'Sophie's World' puts philosophy as the antithesis of religion, he writes...'By philosophy we mean the completely new way of thinking that evolved in greece about 600 years before the birth of Christ. Until that time people had found answers to all their questions in various religions. These religious explanations were handed down from generation to generation in the form of myths. A myth is a story about the gods which sets to explain why life is as it is.' Getting back to the ruler we see duration between ignorance and discovery is much greater before the invention of philosophy than after. It is acknowledged that philosophy gave rise to the sciences we have today. It is interesting to observe that 'historically' when science and religion are on (relatively) equal terms, science continues to push back and disprove the myths held by religion. Science has never (and I posit, never will) indoctrinate or try and smother Religion with its' beliefs as it would be against the essence of it as science seeks to let facts speak for itself. Religion on the other hand, has done just that to science/philosophy more than once......

Subject:Contradiction & Replacing Religion...
Comment:.......In fact Religion has held almost total power for well over half of our Julian calendar history (45 BC - 1582 AD); I wonder how much more advanced we would be and how large a role Religion would play in our current lives if Religion had not committed these great crimes against the human knowledge bank (humanity?) This is another contradiction about Religion; If Religion is so 'Right' why has it 'historically' sought to destroy, by force, all those that oppose it? Likewise, why have the ecclesiastic 'historically' sought to give other humans the dubious choice of 'believe or die'? Science has gained more in its'short time of power than both Religion and Mysticism put together. I posit that Religion is nothing more than mammouth game of Chinese whispers gone terribly wrong supported only by lose metaphores, dodgey story telling, great arrogance (Arrogance is Ego + Ignorance) and the inherant need of humans to answer questions posed by their environment. So what if Religion was given the 'chop' from tomorrow? What would we replace it with? I think the answer to that is right infront of our noses...US, The HUMAN Race, Our World Our Planet and everything in it. Get back in harmony with planet Earth and tune back in to what nature has given us. I certainly don't need a 'God' to do that

Comment:To be perfectly frank, I think the whole religion thing is a bunch of rubbish. Half of the wars in this world have been caused by religion. I hate it when people go on about 'blasphemy' and 'sin'. It's so hypocritical! The bible says outrageous things in my opinion anyway- it doesn't allow anyone to live by their own free will. And I'm sick to death of religious nuts coming round and knocking on my door telling me about a 'perfect world'. There's no such thing. The world would be so much better if there was no religion, and Amen to that!

This was written by different men who God laid on their heart on what 2 write(or told them in dreams) . Evolutionist and Atheists say they have proof the the earth is over 5,000 million years old. They say they can tell how old the earth is but they cant tell when a plane goes way off cuarse and heads strait for the largest buildings in the world. Comment:How can christians expect to be taken seriously, especially on an academic level, when they rattle off stuff about the bible while knowing absolutely NOTHING about what they are saying? For the information of the gullible ,misinformed and woefully undereducated, here are some archaeologically proven facts:The gospels were written AT LEAST 40-50 years AFTER the supposed death of jesus by authors whose identity cannot be completely verified and none of whom were firsthand witness.Hearsay and folklore does not stand up in court, yet religious truth is based on it.Some parts of the gospels are contradictory and full of plagarised pagan myth.(Read my earlier comment on origins of Christ myth)Also, the early gospels were translated from latin to greek, the vulgate and english.Ever heard of chinese whispers? You christians are told what to believe and you believe it without questioning any of it.Does that sound rational or intelligent? You should not talk about a subject unless you know your stuff. As a non-believer,I have probably read and researched the bible and contemporary texts more than the average christian.I have OBJECTIVELY wieghed up the evidence and at least believe myself to be informed about what I speak.Regurgitating what you have learned in your sanatized bible classes really doesn't cut it intellectually,so until you know what you are talking about you should keep quiet.

Comment:Why all the confusion of wether there is a god or not? I don't really care. The church, catholic and protestant (main stream here in the USA) all agree that religion changes with the times. (read with how man wishes to reinvent god) (quoted by a catholic priest on miracles) I believe that all religions see an aspect of god. It is kind of like walking into a hall of mirrors. they all show the person but none of them showthe person as they are. No mirror really can, all have distortions regardless of how minute. I think that all religions show an aspect of GOD. Which is the correct one? NONE and ALL. It is up to me to find GOD in my own way, as it is with you. Do not believe anything without proof. GOD created the universe, GOD created science, Gods works must be able to withstand scientific proof. Miracles therefore must be scientific rules not understood yet. This only shows us what we must still learn and that we shouldn't dismiss anything out of hand but put it to proof.

Comment:OK FF, then how do you explain the two verse quotes from DOB? Add to this the notion of implied generational guilt with Gen 9:24-27;Num 14:18;Ex 34:7. Contrast this with Ezek 20:5;Duet 24:16. Any Literalist is, if they are honest with themselves, have problems here. The doctrine of original sin in the fall of Adam as related in Gensis 3,and its implied generational guilt, leaves the Fundamentalist with an irresolvable delima in Ezek 20:5 and Duet 24:16. When Literalists chose to read the Bible in this manner, they are always at risk of running afoul of both historical and literary anachronisms, without the means necessary to resolve the contradictions within its text.

You read your bibles and then you read you child fairy tales about dragons and goblins...it's ironic that you believe the fairy tales you read in your bible, but the ones you read your children which consist of mainly the same material you think of as just a tale to entertain children. You're mindless and brainwashed. And if there is a god...Who made him? And im not a satanist...but i think 'satan' has more morals and brains than 'god' think about it...'satan' challenges 'god' for his throne in 'heaven' and 'god' banishes 'satan' to 'hell'...Sounds like 'god' was scared and a bit like hitler. Go against what i say and you shall burn and die...Worship your 'god' all you want...but it's merely a sugarcoating of death..When you die you'll know that death is the end there is nothing more and nothing less. - Josh

Comment:Enough already! Why do people constantly have to bash Christianity? I have never bashed an atheist or an agnostic, or a hindu. It's always the same rant, over and over and over again!Do people really hate Christianity that much? Did I really offend atheists/antichrists about maybe enlightning some- one's life? And no, I don't curse people because they are a different denomination.I just give them some helpful ad-vice to change, or at least attempt to. Also, Catholism is not ' God's religion '. Catholism is a ' Roman offshoot ' of Christianity. Constantine, the founder of Catholism, paganized Christianity with his own pagan be- liefs. And when referring to the Bible as just a book of fairy tales, no. Just because it refers to six-headed dragons with crowns on their heads, doesn't mean it is literal. Did any- one ever consider that maybe it was symbolic? The bible al- ways refers to people and future events in symbolism.

Subject:God's existance
Comment:I have read various opinions regarding God's existance. I would like to leave a question for contemplation. If God does not exist (an answer which every person is entitled to come to their own conclusion) Then why do you exist? Every creation needs a creator. For example a beatiful piece of artwork hanging in a museum did not just appear on the wall. It would not be able to hang on the wall unless an artist created the painting through his/her paints. Therefore, I challenge anybody to thing of any material substance that exists without a creator creating that material, this contempletation would include the creation of you & I. If we are true to nobody but ourselves we have no other choice to belief that a creator exits greater than us. That creator is God!

Comment:Ok here goes If you take the consept that a Minute to God is a Million Years to Man. According to Science the Universe is aprox 10 billion Years old. That would be 8640000000 years of our time for 6 days of gods time. A long time right? Ok the bible says God created the universe with everything in 6 days. You say the dinosaurs went on noahs ark I say you are wrong. Who said God could not experiment or excuse the pun Play God During some of that time. Who said that man was created first in Gods image Hence The first ape to walk upright, the neanderthol, then cromagnum Man which is the ancestor to modern man. God could have blinked and Made modern Man but he didnt, he tried a few things first. That was to give man some basics for living. When he created Adam, Adam inherited all the basic knowledge of the past man like creatures. God also gave him a language and a Mate. This is the time before falling from grace so anything after that is just a few thousand years of knowing God. Even during that time there have been Thousands of years of God not existing for all people. Ok back to the Statement A million years to us is a Minute to god, then did it take him 6 of our days or 6 of his days to Create the Universe. That would be time enough for evolution to occur. Think about it.

Comment:OK, so if something that was created needs a creator, then who created God? Since he is supposedly 'there', then how did he become? I am not siding with anyone on this issue, but I agree more with the logical explanations than on the 'faith' that a God exists. If he does exist, then someone or something must have created him. Otherwise, prove me wrong.

Comment:Atheists=right Christians=wronge God and all religions are man made, I hope I didn't suprise you Christians. Everything, I mean everything a christian believes in can not be proved. I am serious. They have absolutely NOTHING. A Christian's only defense is now,'You can't DISPROVE me.' This is totally bogus as a statement for Christians can not disprove there are elephants in planet X millions of miles away but that does not make it true, does it? All I ask for is a Christian to prove himself that what he believes in is real, and none can. All they do is go on the defense from an atheist's question and say things like ,'God works in mysterious ways' or 'God can do anything, even illogical things.' How dumb is that? Religion was all useful back then when it was used to push out Indians and control people into obeying the law BUT nowadays people are smarter and more civilized enough to not need religion. Yes folks, Chrisianity is a brainwashing method used. Your ten commandments are BS. They are practically what human laws already have, the difference in human laws is that prison is not as bad as enternity in Hell by the God who 'created' all. So keep on believing your fairy tales caz death is still death, the information on how life came to be is STILL a mystery, and there is no such God who only favors humans over all living things. Subject:Historical Jesus
Comment:'Professor Shlomo Pines found a different version of Josephus testimony in an Arabic version of the tenth century. It has obviously not been interpolated in the same way as the Christian version circulating in the West:' 'At this time there was a wise man who was called Jesus, and his conduct was good, and he was known to be virtuous. And many people from among the Jews and the other nations became his disciples. Pilate condemned him to be crucified and to die. And those who had become his disciples did not abandon their loyalty to him. They reported that he had appeared to them three days after his crucifixion, and that he was alive. Accordingly they believed that he was the Messiah, concerning whom the Prophets have recounted wonders.' This is interesting stuff too. Einstein himself said 'I want to know how God created this world. I am not interested in this or that phenomenon, in the spectrum of this or that element. I want to know His thoughts, the rest are details.' Einstein also said 'God does not play dice with the world.' However he did not believe in a personal God whom all ethics came from. All of these qoutes are of Einstein: 'God is subtle, but he is not malicious.' 'Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind' (Pais 1982, p. 319). 'One has been endowed with just enough intelligence to be able to see clearly how utterly inadequate that intelligence is when confronted with what exists. If such humility could be conveyed to everybody, the world of human activities would be more appealing.'

Subject:Hypocrites
Comment:It is absolute undeniable fact that many travesties have been done in the name of the Christian God. However if one has ever studied christ's teachings, one would know he was somewhat of a hippie revolutionary before his time. He called the religious authorities of his time 'Hypocrites.' They would stone a man just for working on the sabbath. Jesus said ' The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath.' His message was not one of violence and hate or prejudicial conclusions, But one of Love for one another. Sounds kind of like The Beatles ' All you need is Love.' message. Now if the Beatles themselves after saying this went around slaughtering poeple if they didn't jump on the Beatles band wagon, I could definately see hating the Beatles and their followers. But instead you have men like Charles Manson who based a murdering cult off Beatles songs ( which once again I will remind you, consisted of messages of Love, Peace, and Understanding. Kind of like Jesus.) And you have a few poeple who think because of that the Beatles must have been awful. Charles Manson was just a hypocritical, Delusional, psychopathic cult leader, he no more represented the beatles message than the crusaders or those who slaughtered the Native Americans represented Jesus. I can assure you that not all christians are 'moronic bible bashers' who believe that 'unless you say that you believe christ is the messiah! You are going to hell!' I personally don't. And I am a christian. However much I dislike using that term considering what it has come to mean because of the majority of those through out history claiming to be such. And not opening their minds or their hearts to what Jesus said.

You're a lazy thinker and are afraid to question your own faith in fear that you might discover you're wrong.

Comment:Fundamentalists are living in a dream world. They're blind enough to believe in an invisable man living in the sky. I mean come on I'm 12 and I'm smart enough to know that that's impossible! How could adults belive that crap?! I mean think about it. An 'invisable' man controls our lives then if we're 'naughty' we go straight to hell, don't pass go. Think about how dumb that sounds. So, please, Fundamentalists, take your heads out of your asses and wake up!

Comment:OK, this time I will try to be more civilized. This will be my atempt to prove that the whole Noah's Arc thing NEVER could have happened. The Noah's Arc story never could have happened because of several different reasons. 1. It would be impossible to make a boat that big and that strong in the time the bible said it took to make it. 2. It would be impossible to travel all around the world to get two of every single living thing in the time the bible said he did it in. 3. With the EXTREMELY limited knowledge about travel back then it would have been IMPOSSIBLE to every single body of land without getting lost.......most likely dying. While I'm typing my comment I might as well explain how Jonah and the whale couldn't have happen either. Don't worry all you Fundamentalists who are about ready to shoot me for my *cough* right *cough* opinions, this won't take very long. Jonah and the whale never could have happened because no human could live in a whale's stomach for days without being digested!

Comment:Now, I have no problem with God, or Jesus for that matter. I thought I did, but then when I went to see The Passion (yes, that was a confession), I realized, whether he was real or not, I had nothing against Jesus. He never did anything to me. It's those damn Christians! They claim to be like him (Christian is literally translated 'little Christ'), but very few actually live up to this name. They have such high standards of belief and they judge others according to these beliefs when they, themselves can't live up to their beliefs. Am I the only one who feels this way?

Comment:I was raised Catholic, and as I have been taught since an early age, God is a great and all powerful being that created the earth roughly 6,000 years ago. He watches everything that we do, and damns us to hell if we don’t follow his model of a perfect human, big J. If we succeed in making him happy, then we get to live for the rest of eternity in the perfect world of heaven…Now that I have had a chance to think for myself, and consider the world and what I believe, I have different views: Yes big J was a real man, he did live 2000 years ago, he was born to Mary in a stable, Mary did claim to be a virgin at his birth, he was crucified on a cross. This is all documented in birth, religious, and governmental records of the day, not post mortem like the bible, so I don’t even try to argue with that. Big J may have been a spectacular man, he may have been a magician, a prophet, a seer, or just lucky, but that about sums it up. The bible is the greatest selling fiction novel in the world. It has had more printings, been translated into more languages, and sold more copies than every other book in the world. The fact that it was written post mortem has no bearing on its being true or not, except it was written by not 1st hand accounts, but 2nd and 3rd, that brings into doubt the validity of it all. People have a tendency to embellish their stories, and their lives to make themselves seem more important, or to give more meaning to their existence. ...

Comment:... Some of the stories also hurt the bible, Noah being the biggest. If the polar ice caps were to melt today, the only way to cause that kind of flooding, you still would not cover the entire earth in water. So animals, other than those on that boat would have survived, including humans. Also, was Noah supposed to really be the ONLY person on earth to have a boat? I know that if its flooding and I don’t see any sign of it stopping, I would hop in my boat with my family, and float it out instead of drowning. If you look into some of the more remote areas of the county/world where it is still common to marry your first cousin, or half sister, then you can easily find a dwindling gene pool after just a few generations. If every one of the 6 million people on the earth today came from the people on that boat, then we would all be soo inbreed that either no one would still be able to survive, or the human race would look like something out of an X-Men comic with all of the mutations. The same goes for all of the animals, but there were only 4 each of them to start over with, so they would be even worse. As for the history of the earth, the bible dates the earth to roughly 6,000 years ago, how does creationism explain the existence of mutation? How about the radio-carbon dating of items to millions of years ago? Or even the existence of fossils in the soil, be they dinosaurs or Neolithic man? Did god really create dead animals in the ground that never existed, just put their bones there, and wait for them to be found. How about extinction, if God created every animal on earth, why would he let several species cease to exist? I know that if I work real hard on something, even for a day, I am going to fight to keep from it being destroyed. ...

Comment:... The Asian side of the world has a recorded history that dates back more than 10,000 years, 4,000 Now let’s get to something a little more realistic. If God does exist, and is such the omnipotent being that he is made out to be in so many religions, why is there famine, war, and such injustice in the world? If God created man, and he wanted man to succeed, then why does he let people die everyday from hunger? Places like Ethiopia where there is such drought that food has not been grown for years? Why does he allow people to kill in his name? As it was said in a post before, people have died fighting for the right to call their god, the one true god. If there is one true god, then why does he not unite the religions, and end the wars that have been waging on for thousands of years. Currently the US is involved in a religious battle of sorts. Europe has been torn part many times in the last 2000 years because one religious leader decided that he was right, and every other religion was wrong. Millions have been told to convert to the religion of the day, or die a horrible agonizing death, and have accepted the later. Some of Gods own chosen creatures have been horribly wronged, in the name of religion. The Christians were used as entertainment for the Romans as lion food because they were Christians. The Jews were massacred in the holocaust because they were Jews. What about the thought that we are the only intelligent beings in the entire universe? That’s just a little conceded isn’t it? It has been found that there are in fact other planets around other stars that probably have the capability of supporting life as we know it, let alone something that we haven’t even considered to be an intelligent life form. ...

Comment:... There are billions of stars, and around those stars there are even more planets, some of them capable of supporting human life, others capable of supporting unknown life forms. Where is that accounted for in modern religion? Science can explain mutation, evolution, disease, famine, war, the universe, the history of the earth and the universe, life, death, and in some radical groups the future. But there have always been points that the science of the day cannot explain. This is where religion steps in. If it can’t be explained, blame it on the God or Gods of your religion. The Greeks didn’t understand why the sun would set and rise on a daily basis, so they created Prometheus. The Egyptians had the same problem, so they created Ra. Greeks didn’t know why some couples could have children, while others couldn’t, so they created Athena, the Egyptians created Hathor. Greeks couldn’t explain why people died so they created Hades, the Egyptians created Anibus. The list goes on and on, if you didn’t understand why something happens or how, then make up a god, and pray to it, maybe then you will get what you want. ...

Comment:... Religion also gives a means of control. When civilization began, people would follow a dominant member of the group, otherwise nothing would happen, and everyone would die. A problem arises when there are more than one alpha’s in a group, who leads? What prevents the new alpha from trying to take over the leadership of the group? Before religion, nothing stood in the way, except the other guy. Religion arose as a way to instill order in a civilization. If the leader of a group has you believe that unjustified killing is wrong, and that if you do it, then your spirit will be damned to eternal torture, it gives a cause for further contemplation before actually killing the leader to take his spot. It gave leaders a way of self preservation. Now if there was a being that constantly watched for this kind of act, and would remember it until the perpetrator died to take action, that would help to instill some fear in people. Consider if he is also watching for other acts that the leader believes are wrong, like stealing, believing in another god, or lying. That just helps those in power to stay in power, and maintain order in the process. The mob is the true ruling power behind any ruler, but as a whole (the mob does not account for individuality) the mob is easily manipulated, gullible, weak minded, and needy. If you give the mob what it wants and help to fulfill Maslow’s hierarchy of needs then the mob will be on your side. If the mob is on your side, then the occasional dissenter and uprising doesn’t matter, you stay in power. Religion helps to guide the mob, give it meaning, and purpose, rules, and structure. Without religion the mob would be more restless, and harder to control. ...

Comment:... How much money does the Catholic Church bring in on an average Sunday? Christmas? Easter? Year? 10% of the average American’s income is $3,000 a person. If half of all Christians are Catholics then roughly 80 million Americans are Catholic. Let’s say that just 25% actually give a full tithing of 10% that’s still $60 billion a year in income, just from the US side of the house. That’s better than most large businesses in the US. Why does the church need all of that money? Now I do have to make a concession, I don’t have an answer for everything in the universe…yet. The Big Bang is considered the start of the universe. But there isn’t any explanation for what was before the Big Bang, or what caused it, just what came afterwards. This can easily be explained by religion…God created the universe billions of years ago in one big bang. That is the same fall back used by the Greeks, Egyptians, Christians, Jews, and who ever else you want to attribute it to, if you can’t explain it, blame it on religion.

It's rubbish that Jesus died for our sins - how was he to know any of us would even exist, let alone commit sins - that's very presumptious of him, don't you think? Plus why do you think my existence hinges on whether Jesus died for my sins? I've looked at my computer (definitely invented, made, and bought by humans, not god) and no, I don't think this Earth happened by accident - have you ever heard of evolution? There's a theory that holds water - tons and tons of mutually supporting evidence, yet some people still reject it in favour of an ancient book full of children's stories. Do you realise that there are people of every single religion who feel just as sure as you do, if not more, that the religion they follow is right? Now think of how many religions there are. Now work out the odds that you follow the correct one, if there is a correct one. If all but one of the religions worshipping this all mighty 'god' character are wrong, would it be surprising if they were all wrong?

Comment:I am familiar with the bible - I went to a Church of England primary school when I was little, and this is why I have such a hard time working out how anyone could actually believe in it. It's just so far fetched and ridiculous, and besides, have you read the Quran, the Tipitaka or the Guru Granth Sahib? Cos if not, how can you even begin to decide which religion is most right, if any at all? I'll tell you for why, the vast majority of people in the world never get a chance, or never bother, to decide for themselves, cos it is driven into their heads from an early age which religion to follow. I'm willing to bet that one or both of your parents are Christian and I don't even know you. I hate all religion because for so many reasons, but mainly because it creates self-righteous people who are prepared to mess up the world for the rest of us. Religion is holding back the progress of humankind. Religion is a virus of the mind. Religion is the root of all evil.

Grant R. Jeffery, The Signature of God 'There are gaps in the fossil graveyard, places where there should be intermediate forms, but where there is nothing whatsoever instead. No paleontologist . . . denies that this is so. It is simply a fact. Darwin’s theory and the fossil record are in conflict.' David Berlinsky 'Scientists concede that their most cherished theories are based on embarrassingly few fossil fragments and that huge gaps exist in the fossil record.' Time magazine, Nov. 7, 1977 'The evolutionists seem to know everything about the missing link except the fact that it is missing.' G. K. Chesterton

Comment:Before you can assemble the large macro-molecules necessary for life you must have a ready supply of basic organic molecules. Imagine a primitive ocean. You need tons of sugars, amino acids, purines, pyrimidines, etc. There are a number of severe obstacles that must be overcome in getting a suitable ocean: Quantities - The first problem is overcoming the diluting effect of a vast primordial ocean. For example, a study which assumed use of the entire atmospheric supply of nitrogen for molecular formation indicates insufficient concentrations would result (Gish 1972, 10-11). Synthesis vs destruction - For chemical bonds to form there needs to be an external source of energy. Unfortunately, the same energy that creates the bonds is much more likely to destroy them. In the famous Miller experiment (1953) that synthesized amino acids, a cold trap is used to selectively isolate the reaction products. Without this, the would be no products. This poses a challenge to simplistic early earth schemes where lightning simply strikes a primitive ocean. Where is the 'trap' in such an ocean? Also, the creation of amino acids by a chemist in a laboratory is still much different from forming self-replicating life. This point has not escaped the attention of evolutionists. 'The physical chemist, guided by the proved principles of chemical thermodynamics and kinetics, cannot offer any encouragement to the biochemist, who needs an ocean full of organic compounds to form even lifeless coacervates [blobs]' (D. E. Hull, Nature, 186, 693 1960)(Gish 1972, 13)

Comment:Incompatibility - Another problem is that different molecules will react with one another. For example, amino acids and sugars combine and destroy each other. In lab experiments the component chemicals are neatly separated from one another. How is this possible in a primitive ocean?

Comment:Any plausible theory of the origin of life must include the formation of complicated macro-molecules like proteins, DNA and RNA. In addition, there are other necessary components of life such as lipids, carbohydrates, hormones, enzymes, etc. that must be formed and be utilized to produce life. The syntheses of proteins from DNA is very complicated (see any biology textbook), and experiments to produce life in a test tube fall woefully short of creating life. There are a series of obstacles to the notion of life arising spontaneously from a sea of chemicals: CHEMICAL ENVIRONMENT - Some of the necessary component chemicals react with one another is counter-productive ways. For example, phosphoric acid which would be necessary to form DNA would form an insoluble salt with calcium (calcium phosphate), sink to the bottom of a primordial sea, and be unavailable to make DNA. (Gish 1972, 23). POLYMERIZATION - How are the polymers formed in proteins and nucleic acids? A basic problem is that monomers never become polymers unless energy is supplied - they don't spontaneously arise. Protein formation in the laboratory requires a number of deliberate steps by a chemist. Experiments with catalysts and heating of dry amino acids have not demonstrated anything close to realistic life macro-molecules. (Gish 1972, 17-23)

Subject:What?
Comment:SEQUENCES - This detail is at the center of the origin of life problem. Assuming that there WAS a large supply of molecular building blocks, how do you get the specific sequences necessary in proteins and in DNA? Consider proteins: the sequence of amino acids determines the way the molecule will 'fold up', which gives it physical properties. For a particular function, an exact sequence is required. What are the odds of this occurring by accident? The odds of forming a specific molecule with 100 amino acids is (1/20) ** 100 = 10e130 (the number 10 with 130 zeros following it) to 1. Forget it! Along these lines, the famous astronomer Sir Fred Hoyle and Professor Chandra Wickramasinghe (both atheists) calculated the probability of life forming by chance in five billion years on earth. The answer is 10e40000 to 1 (a number so close to zero as to effectively be zero). They then considered the universe with 100 billion galaxies each with 100 billion stars and 20 billion years. Still no chance. Hoyle said the probability of life evolving anywhere in the universe is as likely as a tornado sweeping through a junkyard and assembling a Boeing 747! OPTICAL ISOMERS - Amino acids are found in L-amino (left) or D-amino (right) types and are formed in equal proportions in synthesis experiments. Animals and people are made of almost exclusively L-animo types. How is this selection made? ... Still an open question.

Comment:To go beyond proteins, DNA and RNA, and to assemble them into a working biological system is another mystery. We must go from disjointed molecules to complex interrelated systems that are capable of self-maintenance and self-replication. One approach (Oparin's Coacervate Theory) is to try to construct coacervates (large blobs of colloidal particles) from molecules. Unfortunately, this merely holds together random molecules by electrostatic chemical bonds. (Gish 1972, 27). Another scheme uses microspheres (Fox's Proteinoid Microsphere Theory) by the pyrocondensation of amino acids. But these are only random polymers of amino acids that are inherently unstable. There are no energy-utilizing systems, no replicating systems, etc. (Gish 1972, 30) A biological system is more than a collection of molecules thrown together - these blobs have to be able to do something, they have to act as little machines with input and output related to some greater purpose in the cell. How a biological system could arise still remains in the realm of 'science fiction'.

Comment:Now we cross the line from the molecular to the living. Whether bacteria, animals, plants or people, we all have cells. Cells consist of many biological elements that are enclosed in a cell membrane that allows certain molecules to pass out of it and let others in. It must be able to perform many functions: self-replicate, maintain itself by the construction of new proteins, regulate it's functions, etc. Cells are tremendously complex and more complicated than any machine man has ever built. Even the smallest bacterial cell has 100 proteins, DNA, RNA, and contains one hundred billion atoms. The simplest cells are not more primitive than, or ancestral of, larger ones. This poses an immediate problem. How do you get all the complicated machinery to work at the same time? It either all works or nothing works. For example, the information to construct the apparatus to synthesize proteins is stored in the DNA. But the extraction of this information requires the apparatus to be in place already (Denton 1985, 269). To explain the evolution of the cell requires imagining simpler 'proto-cells'. One such idea by Francis Crick (Denton 1985, 265) uses a proto-cell that is allowed to make mistakes in protein formation (termed 'statistical proteins') to create new systems. This is challenged by the knowledge that even small errors cause devastating biological consequences. In short, explaining the origin of life is a big problem for evolutionists. It is such a problem that mainstream scientific literature even considers the possibility of life dropping in from outer space, called the theory of 'panspermia' (Scientific American, Feb 1992). But even this only moves to problem one step outward.

Subject:God is real. Deal with it.
Comment:God IS real. Jesus IS real. Angels are real. Ghosts are real. Aliens are real. There are things, that are real, weather you believe in them or not. You know WHY God is real? Because we live in a perfectly designed universe, that was not a product of 'Random chance' There is no such thing as random chance. The Big Bang theory I get, but it still doesn't explain where the chemicals, particles, matter, and everything CAME FROM that made the universe. Many scientists admit the creation of the universe was probably supernatural causes. You know WHY God is real? Because we are all tailor made. If we were spiritless clusters of decaying flesh, then, by default, their would be more products of humans with the same DNA and/or fingerprints. But there is not. Because we were each individually designed. You know WHY God is real? Because Jesus Christ his son came to earth and brought the truth to humans, in such a way, that it is horrible that so many people turn him away. He died for us. An ultimate sacrifice of love. And no Jesus is not a myth, he is not a character from a fairy tale. He walked this earth, his existence on Earth is historically recorded, we use his existence as reference dates. You know WHY God is real? Because a book written by God was published called The Bible, that safely made its way to every country. You know WHY God is real? Because every thing that grows was created. Creation and Evolution. Also there is archaeological evidence that proves the Exodus account is real. Where Moses lead the Hebrew’s out of slavery to the new land, where God lifted the ocean for them to cross… yes, since there is evidence that proves this story was a true event, it proves God’s existence.

If god really is omnicient and knows everything then when he created me he knew i was going to be an athiest. he therefore knew that upon my death i would go to hell. he created me knowing i was going to be sentenced to an eternaty of pain and suffering! he created billions of people all around the earth in full knowledge that they would all suffer forever! if this god exists he is definitely not all loving, he is infact bordering on sadistic and evil.... hitler killed many jews but their suffering was only for a life time.... this 'god' is sentancing billions more people to infinate lifetimes of suffering..... so yes if a christian god exists he is worse than a million hitlers. hitler only allowed germans in his master race.... god only allows christians.... who is more discriminative, they look about the same to me! thank u very much for reading my name is haydybo any q's can b answered at haydybo@hotmail.co.uk
