Typical quote: "A very spiritual experience it was too - I actually had to spend a night with my dead GrandMa and carry her two miles to the cemetery" - MadPole

Below is a transcript of channel 103 chat. Channel 103 is a place where religion is discussed, (atheists battle the Christians). (I am eadon-com by the way.) sample quote:

Isolani: "A long time ago, eadon, you told me that lethargy was the only thing standing between all people and the logical conclusion of suicide."

eadon-com: Good evening gentlemen!

eadon-com: peace!

Madpole: WAR eadon! BOOK WAR!

Madpole: Name calling!

WickedMerlin: evening eadon, but this is war!

eadon-com: War? Oh goody!!!

eadon-com: <dons coat of mythril chainmail>

eadon-com: <grabs sword of truth>

eadon-com: <jumps on Satan's Stallion>

eadon-com: <and gallops into battle screaming like a freaking Celt with blue tippex smeared on cheeks>

Isolani: eadon, after donning martial garb and grabbing sword, tucks kids in for the night.

eadon-com: Well, even warriors have to do the dirty work

Madpole: A long story - do not where to start... it was a lovely day... no... Basically I was dumped by my parents every year at his farm. Electricity is all they had - no water in the house, no TV, no cookers, no nothing... it was BRILLIANT.

Madpole: My GrandMa died and You could see that his life was over... he struggled for few months and died.. there was no purpose for him to be "here" anymore

Madpole: she did not commit suicide - just died because of lack of interest in life.. very interesting and frustrating experience that was.

Madpole: and I forgot to add: "Very spiritual experience" it was too - I actually had to spend a night with my dead GrandMa and carry her 2 miles to the cemetery..

Madpole: that was very "refreshing and mind opening too"

dlh: woah mad, that is incredible

Madpole: it was nice but tough dlh

eadon-com: Was she dead madpole?

dlh: I imagine mad!

Madpole: it did shape me to cope with death better though... my own death and my parents' death and yours too

Isolani: MadPole there is a terrific short-story there.

eadon-com: Did you bury her yourself?

dlh: it is like the opening scene from the movie Dr. Zhivago

Madpole: She was dead - She weighted about 100 kg - then she's gone down to about 30 because she had cancer...

eadon-com: Easy to carry then. Every cloud has a silver lining

dlh: that is sad madpole

Madpole: when we carried her - like they say - the dead body is heavy - there were 6 of us - and we could barely cope

Isolani: She ate a lot?

eadon-com: if she was 30kg, that is only 5 kg each. Were you all drunk?

DeaconNihilo: there are people who have tried to do accurate measurements of a persons weight to see if something leaves when they die :)

Isolani: She worked in the circus?

Madpole: that was freaky - we knew we do not carry anything - but it was like carrying lead - and spending the whole night with her was even better

Isolani: Candles during the "vigil"?

Madpole: ghosts probably were there and the whole family were s***** scared

dlh: mad, I saw my dad breathe his last breath, he died of cancer too :(

Madpole: that was even worse then dlh!

Isolani: Death is very religious.

Madpole: or "better!

Madpole: Death is very SPIRITUAL Isolani if I may correct You for a change!

Dudge: how long ago, dlh? :(

dlh: about 12 years ago Dudge

Madpole: You are lucky man dlh - I know it does not sound right

dlh: lung cancer got my dad, he was a three pack a day marlboro man

Dudge: A few years before my grandmother also died of cancer...

Isolani: In Therevada Buddhism there is a special "meditation on death." I don't advise it if you've been melancholic.

Madpole: but I know what I am talking about

Dudge: lung cancer also

eadon-com: that must be a nasty end. The ciggie companies have a lot to answer for

DeaconNihilo: I'll probably die of lung cancer. I'll need insurance for that or maybe have one of the guys at work do it

eadon-com: Be careful DeaconNihilo, if he cut your hair then he might not give you the exam you were expecting :)

DeaconNihilo: hehe. Us guys should not be ashamed of these basic hygiene issues :)

Isolani: My dad died of colon cancer, and I saw him breathe his last too.

DeaconNihilo: this one guy at work cut my hair maybe I can ask him to administer a prostate exam. I'll ask him tonight when I see him at a party

Madpole: Myself and 2 other friends tried to read the "Tibetan Book on Living and Dying" - We all got through "living" bit immediately and got excited about the book

Madpole: since then none of us found time to continue.. that was 3 years ago...

dlh: one of those Tibetan books mad talks about throwing a dudes liver into the air for eagles to eat doesn't it?

Madpole: never got that far dlh! ;-)

Madpole: but why not ? Body is only a body... Dead body does not represent the person anymore

Isolani: The Tibetan idea is to expiate death from the list of sins. Our Western notion is to think of death as faux pas, a bad thing.

eadon-com: true madpole, yet this point is scary

Madpole: I wish I get raped while I am alive - raping my dead body is not going to do me any favours so to speak

dlh: mad!

Madpole: No it is not eadon

Madpole: You have to accept your death before You can start living your life

DeaconNihilo: I still don't want to be cremated!

eadon-com: why is that?

DeaconNihilo: I want my body preserved

eadon-com: in ice DeaconNihilo, cryogenically, you mean

DeaconNihilo: no nothing fancy. Just a coffin under the ground

Madpole: this is where "western" methodologies go wrong

eadon-com: Ice up the brain for future generations to thaw out, dust off and put on a new body?

Madpole: I accepted my death one year ago - I am not even sure if I am alive... and since then my life improved

Dudge: Would tend to agree about a body... don't care what happens to mine much when I'm gone

Isolani: Fear of death limits life.

Isolani: Fear casts out Love.

dlh: there is the story of one happy Buddhist monk, he literally saw to it that he died laughing, amazing eh?

eadon-com: 2 firemen did that recently dlh. They breathed laughing gas to get high, but there was no oxygen in the canisters. They suffocated. But I bet they died laughing.

Madpole: My theory is that I died in December 1999 - and what is happening now is just my consciousness still clinging to so called "reality" - You have been warned! I might be a ghost

eadon-com: I think it is right to fear death. I have a huge hang up about it. Losing the only thing we have is pretty scary

DeaconNihilo: its sad when a part of you dies

Isolani: Fear is debilitating, no matter what the object of that fear is.

Madpole: No eadon - Death is a reward

Dudge: The big question, eadon, is: What then? Entirely ceasing to be conscious... yes, a scary concept

WickedMerlin: Well, only if you know you have lost it, eadon

Madpole: Death is God's message saying "Thank You - You achieved your goal -= You can retire from this bollox now!"

Isolani: "That country whose bourne no traveller returns." - Shakespeare on death

eadon-com: Yes Dudge, that freaks me out. I admit it!

Dudge: Me too. Sometimes.

DeaconNihilo: I'm sitting here listening and I'm not the least phased

eadon-com: yes WickedMerlin that is the paradox, when you are dead, you are not afraid. you are not aware, so it is nothing to be scared of.

DeaconNihilo: if I die right now that would be fine

Dudge: bye

eadon-com: bye

Isolani: bye

Madpole: ISOLANI ! as per usual - You hit the nail on the head regarding fear! Are You a carpenter or something ? ;-)

DeaconNihilo: I'm more worried as to how it would hurt my family

Isolani: Make sure you have a will DeaconNihilo.

DeaconNihilo: I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep

eadon-com: I bet you this: if you were strapped in a chair and about to be given a lethal injection of pain killers, you would be rather on the nervous side, upon my giddy aunt, you would

DeaconNihilo: I'd be saying, "you call this a medical procedure?!

Isolani: Of course eadon.

Madpole: I disagree eadon!

Isolani: I don't disagree eadon.

Madpole: When You are dead You are AWARE! that is what frightens people

eadon-com: madpole is developing a bit of a death wish at the moment :(

DeaconNihilo: yes I think so

Madpole: why would people be frightened of death if they were not aware of it then ?

Isolani: MadPole, so you've been dead and you know that you remain aware?

eadon-com: Madpole when that brain dies you are no longer aware, my friend. I would bet on that if I were you, that you will survive death. The stakes are too high :)

eadon-com: would = wouldn't. oops

DeaconNihilo: you are only dead at certain points in time in others you live forever

eadon-com: erm, I think not DeaconNihilo :) to live forever would be difficult in a universe that is expanding indefinitely

DeaconNihilo: I'm just saying a moment in time lasts forever

Dudge: Entropy of the universe increases and all...yeah, maybe, eadon.

DeaconNihilo: at that future point in time

eadon-com: in this universe, unless we find a way of changing physics, all life will expire one day. That's an oxymoron there DeaconNihilo :)

DeaconNihilo: who is to say when we are dead we are bound by time

WickedMerlin: You are not DeaconNihilo, but that's your lore

eadon-com: we would not be aware of time I suppose, so time for us would lose significance. Who remembers the first 15,000,000,000 of this universes life?

Madpole: You are talking Rubbish as per usual eadon

eadon-com: Thanks madpole :)

Madpole: and You know it - do not tease me tonite ;-)

Isolani: Mad, easy on the attacks please.

eadon-com: But madpole, you love it really

WickedMerlin: Rubbish - the language spoken in barren wastelands of Rub.

Madpole: Brain is just a computer... but there is also You!

eadon-com: he is only joking Isolani

Madpole: kool Isolani! I am only joking! COINCIDENCE? Damn! eadon just said that!

eadon-com: Rubbish: The currency of the christian. Controversial! Or rather madpole is being serious, but it is amusing when he gets angry!

WickedMerlin: It would have been controversial if you didn't put controversial at the end, eadon

Isolani: Programmers [eadon-com and madpole are computer programmers] have a special way of treating each other, as well as the universe. To them the core of truth is digitized, dehumanized and thought to be capable of human regulation.

Madpole: I am pulling eadon's spiritual leg and see how far it can stretch..he scored 3 inches last time I did it.. I hope to have better results today...

Isolani: They interact with each other on promissory notes of convenience, sharing knowledge and trade secrets when friendly, and such. It's a highly-specialized language betwixt them.

eadon-com: I am doing it now. You Isolani? :)

Madpole: So eadon - what about YOU? Is your brain You? And when it dies You die ? I feel sorry for You. Because it will happen if You believe so. Bye Bye eadon - I will miss You

Isolani: I do not set my eyes on things far beyond me.

Madpole: Isolani is a cheat - he knows much more than he pretends to know! ;-)

Isolani: Ouiji Board cursor will move if you believe too Madpole

WickedMerlin: I believe so and yes, Madpole I want that to happen.

Madpole: You can WickedMerlin. It is easy

eadon-com: The brain is a big organ. So is the liver. The liver takes in blood and outputs chemicals that are useful and also outputs waste. The brain takes information as input and outputs signals to other parts of the brain and to the nerves.

DeaconNihilo: actually a simile. you'll notice I said like

Isolani: But eadon, isn't information at least conveyed by synapses, electricity?

Madpole: Bye Bye eadon - I will miss You

DeaconNihilo: we are like stars burning with energy and that energy we release stays ours forever. that is what life is about, for the universe to soak up our existence and preserve it

WickedMerlin: that's gobblygock DeaconNihilo.,

eadon-com: Our essence is not energy, that is an intuitive mistake made by those who do not understand modern ideas about the world. The essence of who we are and what we are lies not in the realm of energy but in the domain of information. The brain is about information

DeaconNihilo: it was a metaphor eadon

Isolani: And isn't electricity energy?

Isolani: energy?

Isolani: And isn't energy "neither created nor destroyed"?

eadon-com: Yes, true Isolani, energy is needed to process information, but the point is that this is secondary to the information its self.

Madpole: good one Isolani - I give up - please follow this if You can - I do not want him to disappear. it is so easy to "stay around" - but he wants to disintegrate... why ? Maybe he should see a doctor ?

WickedMerlin: information is physically "printed" into the brain, Isolani, Why are you attaching mystical significance to energy?

eadon-com: The key to the brain is networks of cells, called neural networks. They are linked, and do different things depending on the strengths of the links. Neural networks can learn. Even better, when simulated on a computer, a neural network learns. And this is whether done in software or hardware, ie silicon neurones. The energy in all these cases is different, but the ability to learn is the same

Isolani: WickedMerlin I truly don't care one way or another. About the conservation of our personal energies.

Madpole: eadon - I will be cruel to be kind - You are saying that You are your brain - I do not want to talk to your stupid brain - I want to talk to YOU! Can I get an appointment with your heart instead ?

eadon-com: So the information transcends the type of energy used to process it. we are about information, not energy

Madpole: or are You denying your heart existence too ?

Isolani: I'm just trying to get these two guys to state their differences better.

eadon-com: heart is just a muscle as madpole knows :)

Madpole: and I meant "loving heart" - because You are one hell of loving guy - you just keep denying it - why ?

DeaconNihilo: stab a knife in his heart and see what he says then :)

DeaconNihilo: literally or figuratively

eadon-com: probably ggggghhharrrrgggggghhhhhhhhh! Anyway I'm glad we are all agreed about life and death! Death is simply the cessation of processing of information

DeaconNihilo: if you pass away eadon-com tomorrow I might still talk to you :)

eadon-com: time is perceived in terms of how fast we process that information, so time, in essence, stops for us when we die.

Madpole: I did few times DeaconNihilo - ask eadon!

Madpole: I stabbed him in the back and he was smiling and loving - he is a true Jesus and bloody does not want to admit it. It really gets on my nerves sometimes. But I can understand why Jesus was killed now! ;-) Enough is enough!

WickedMerlin: But you were oversimplifying just now eadon. Are your feelings towards your kids based on information processing

eadon-com: Actually WickedMerlin, love is definitely information processing. they captured it recently in brain scans

WickedMerlin: yes, but life isn't about information processing. Life isn't about anything. We live and that is that.

Madpole: can You imagine being wed to eadon: "Actually - love is a processing process - let's get ours stimulation buds going first of all" - can I be one of those buds please ;-)

Isolani: A long time ago, eadon, you told me that lethargy was the only thing standing between all people and logical conclusion of suicide.

Isolani: Now that you have kids, do you still hold to that?

eadon-com: I was probably playing devils advocate Isolani

Madpole: I get it!

Isolani: No it quite made sense in our dialogue/context at that time.

eadon-com: did it? Christ, I must have been on downers that day! We are genetically programmed to be unsusceptible to suicide. It is very hard to walk off a cliff

Madpole: eadon is a new re-incarnation of Jesus called "Playful all-in-one" Jesus! He is a Saint and he is a Satan. He pulls peoples' legs off, gets drunk and have babies... but I did stabbed him in the back few times.. and he is still talking to me...

Isolani: People do it by the hundred every day eadon.

eadon-com: how many people on the planet Isolani? 6 billion

Isolani: over 6 billion yes

eadon-com: 70 years in a life, that's about 20,000 days.

eadon-com: so 6 billion (6,000,000,000) divided by 20,000 days = 300,000

eadon-com: 100's per day is a very small number. 300,000 would have to commit suicide each day to have a depressing effect on the world population

Isolani: Point well taken eadon.

Isolani: Life is a bowl of cherries, etc.

eadon-com: I would disagree WickedMerlin, I believe that information processing encapsulates life pretty well. If there is a key to life then that is it!

eadon-com: The meaning of life = processing of information

Isolani: Information processing, to my green ears, sounds like just another aspect of the myriad aspects of the total.

WickedMerlin: You go through life processing information all the way, but it's not a core of the existence as such

Isolani: Why process it? Why not just enjoy it?

WickedMerlin: there are lots of other processes running too eadon

eadon-com: What is the core of the existence WickedMerlin?

WickedMerlin: nothing

WickedMerlin: what you want it to be

Madpole: the key to life eadon is to live it ... but You would never understand that - You have 10,496,753 CPU instructions your brain has to finish.. never enough time..

WickedMerlin: everything

eadon-com: I don't want it to be anything as such.

eadon-com: I think that the biggest human fallacy is to seek a meaning of our existence. why should there be one?

Isolani: Well said MadPole. The bloke needs a lesson 'bout messin' with you.

Madpole: I was aggressing towards eadon but I much rather be loving towards You if You do not mind

Dudge: Hi PriestessNova :)

PriestessNova: hello Dudge! eadon MadPole and Isolani too :)

Isolani: PriestessNova! good to see you're back.

eadon-com: PriestessNova you are the heart that makes this chat channel such a loving place!

WickedMerlin: [quotes eadon]

eadon-com: heart is just a muscle as madpole knows :)

eadon-com: that was funny, hahahahaha

WickedMerlin: you are just a muscle, PriestessNova, sorry

PriestessNova: good to see you too, WickedMerlin

WickedMerlin: greetings PriestessNova!

eadon-com: But I am in love with the ventricles of PriestessNova's essence And would love to swim through her warm aorta

Madpole: Get lost eadon! There is no existence! there is no life! there is no religion! there is no love! May I ask You what exactly You are doing here and who let You in so I can report it to authorities? ;-)

Isolani: Brain waves, brain scans, can they write poetry? Can they dance? Can they succor a loved one in need of emotional help? Can they tithe? Can they make a joke?

eadon-com: I am merely saying that all those things are aspects of signal processing of bits of information madpole!

eadon-com: They sure can, Isolani. Computers are learning to do all of those things, except the succouring bit

Isolani: Oh.

WickedMerlin: eadon is of course right. But only in a very narrow sense

Isolani: The heart IS just a muscle. It's the liver that motivates our emotions.

eadon-com: thanks WickedMerlin, <I think>

Isolani: eadon is narrow in that his field is one row.

WickedMerlin: well, the facts are correct. But the miracle of life is also worth a symphony

eadon-com: Serotonin. The chemical in the brain that makes us high and happy. Where is the spirit, but languishing in the folds of a fantastical protein

Isolani: Prozac and serotonin and long-distance running and etc., ah, wondered when he get to chemistry.

eadon-com: A symphony can be played on a CD, with 600,000,000 bytes of information. Music is in essence structured information

WickedMerlin: which again is correct, but does not capture the beauty of the symphony

eadon-com: so where is the beauty? In the soul of the CD? Our CD players can read souls? Amazing!

WickedMerlin: the beauty is in the wholeness and the interaction with you!

PriestessNova: sorry guys, what were we talking about?

Isolani: Sports PriestessNova. Soccer.

BishopHavoc: 2+2=4

eadon-com: Christians normally arrive at 5 BishopHavoc. You should brush up on your bible a bit more

Madpole: PriestessNova - prove him wrong - do You really agree that my heart is just a muscle? Did I not give You loving a warming feelings over the last few months ? IT IS IMPORTANT!

PriestessNova: the heart is more than a muscle. Just like the mind is more than an organ. The seat of the soul is supposed to be in the heart.

Madpole: Phew ! I nearly had a heart attack there but PriestessNova saved me in the last second! Thank You PriestessNova!

Isolani: eadon suggests brushing up on one's Bible.

eadon-com: to BishopHavoc, he just made a logical statement and got it right, ie 2+2=4. He should read the bible again and learn that 2+2=5

WickedMerlin: or 1+1+1 = 1

eadon-com: Yes PriestessNova, I am sure that the soul resides in an organ that consists of 4 chambers convulsed by muscle fibres designed to move blood

Isolani: eadon sees but the obtuse version of the abstract reality.

Madpole: You misread the book called "Life and how to live it" eadon. I would go to chapter No. 1 if I were You

WickedMerlin: technically it is correct but it "demeans" and hinders the experience of the whole beautiful (unreligious) miracle

eadon-com: Sure WickedMerlin, but how do you explain the existence of the pheromone bulb in our noses, the sense that can smell pheromones, but is unconnected to the conscious centers of the brain, but rather is wired to the centres of the brain that control muscle movements. This means that we are attracted to women, but do not know why

WickedMerlin: evolution, eadon

PriestessNova: So what is it exactly that you find desirable about women and feel love towards such creatures? from the clinical description eadon gave back there, doesn't seem to appealing. hmmm?

WickedMerlin: I don't disagree with you on the technical level

Madpole: Cut the wires now eadon! Blue, Red, Greed, Pink.. then...

PriestessNova: there's got to be more to it than that. Seriously.

eadon-com: Sure PriestessNova, but why should the explanation of love be poetic or appealing to us?

WickedMerlin: yes and no, PriestessNova there is the sum of a very complex being consisting of all these technical details, not necessarily more besides that

PriestessNova: it's more than that, and you know it.

Madpole: Can I ask You why You married? Was it something to do with "wires" too ?

eadon-com: sure, pheromones, evolutionary pressures, subconscious, etc. Physical attraction exists between all sexual animals.

Isolani: I'm sure that explanation turns women on.

WickedMerlin: is there something more to a rose because we find it beautiful?

eadon-com: turns me on Isolani :)

BishopHavoc: PriestessNova, its a Dark Side meeting, what are you doing in there?...Bright Side meeting at 6pm........don't be late :-)

eadon-com: The point is that love is merely an interaction of neurones and chemicals in the brain.

WickedMerlin: which we on an untechnical level don't need to know, eadon. Or more precisely don't need to think about

eadon-com: Love has evolved so that partners stay together long enough to raise kids, which need a lot of care and attention

Isolani: Love, as you define it eadon, is reduced to an emotion.

eadon-com: There is an interesting fact about love. People are attracted to members of the opposite sex who secrete chemicals from glands in the cheeks (this is the essence behind eskimo nose rubbing by the way, they are sniffing these glands) These glands emit chemicals that we are not conscious of. But People are attracted only if the chemicals convey certain information. In this case the information conveyed is that their immune systems are mutually very different.

Isolani: As if eadon. I was not physically attracted by sight to my wife?

WickedMerlin: and that was what your proposal sounded like, eadon?

Isolani: LOL eadon, you digress too much :)

eadon-com: This makes sense evolutionary speaking, because it means that the offspring will get the best of both parents immune systems. You call it love, I call it immune system induced subconscious attraction :)

Isolani: eadon you embrace an ology that is not dissimilar to what others embrace in opposite directions of thought (I would have said "schools of thought" but they ain't schools).

Isolani: Denial, eadon, ain't just a river in Egypt.

eadon-com: Love doesn't demand some supernatural essence to explain it's pleasure guys, WickedMerlin knows this and Isolani too, I expect.
