| Comment: | 'Parsifal: cite me ONE example of a case where insects or bacteria developed a resistant strain to pollution/ insecticides where it was shown that the resistant strain was NOT already present at the start, and came to the fore, rather than arising thru a NEW mutation. If you would be so kind. And you won't be able to '
Parsifal should check out aac.asm.org/cgi/content/full/42/11/2775 where HIV protease inhibitors are discussed. HIV protease inhibitors were a new class of drugs, invented, designed, engineered by human scientists. Nothing like these drugs existed previously in nature. Thus HIV could have no previous resistance genes. But HIV very quickly mutated and acquired resistance. Medical doctors treating HIV may wish Parsifal was right, but new mutations really do arise. |
