I'm very busy, I've saved your site and will read the entire article later...I promise.
I would like to say that I too wonder where the rebellion against the music industry is. If fact, there seems to be none at all.
I have independently produced my own CD with a limited budget yet when people hear it, they overwhemingly like or love it... But then the questions (When I let freinds etc. hear it, I don't give any info).
They ask:
'What label is Bromethius (me) under?', 'How many copies sold?', 'How come I haven't heard it on the radio?'... The attitude changes very rapidly against my CD and soon there is little interest when the truth is told. Suddenly the CD is no longer suitable for hearing, it's not cool.
But they DID like it before... Yes most seem to take an allegiance with the music industry and these people let the industry dictate just what it is that people should and should not like.
Oh, well... here is my site anyway:

The music busines is all about fads, timing and grooming. It's been that way for some time. In the 60's and early 70's record companies were signing bands whose musical style they had no comprehenion of. These were people who thought Mitch Miller was a crowning musical achievment. When rock n roll and the counter-cultural movement happened they just wanted to cash in. This is how people like Frank Zappa, The Grateful Dead and others got signed. If these artists tried to get signed in todays world......it'd never happen. Our whole sick culture has moved about 70 degrees to the right in the last 30 years. Politically, musically, culturally we're a stones throw from corporate christian totalitarianism. Good Luck.
