Coincidence
Ok. So I was walking down the street whaen I saw a tree. It was dark green but at the top, there were a bunch of red leaves. Chances are, the next day when I walked past the exact same spot I saw the same exact tree again. To top it all off, my husband was walking past that exact same spot and he saw the tree too! It was there, and strangely, this all happened in the same week!
Jim adds
Truly uncanny! Here's another spooky coincidence: a friend of mine says she has been abducted by aliens because she can't remember it at all. The coincidence is that I cannot remember anything either, so we must have been abducted by the same alien!

Coincidence
Coincidence: lots of coincidences in my life. In the mid seventies we lived on an island one mile wide and THREE miles long. THREE women, my wife, her girlfriend and my stepbrothers wife all found out they were pregnant on the same day and they worked at the same small resteraunt on an island of about THREE-hundred. When my son was born nine months later it was on the third. My sons name is Jason and another Jason in the next room was born Three minutes apart from my son. I was only in two accidents in my lifetime and neither were my fault. One was a dept. of motor vehicles state of Fl. truck and he gives drivers license exams. The other about 20 years before worked in the traffic devision at the Pinnelas Co. Court House. The first football game I ever went to was Oklahoma and Notre Dame at the age of five in 1959. Notre Dame broke Oklahomas 47 game winning streak and it still stands today. I was the only white kid in my gym class and the only one to get an A in basketball. I made 8 foul shots in a row while being mocked and verbally harrased. My last Three digits of my phone number just happen to be my house number 506. In physiology class Miss Clearwater and a soon to be Miss Florida sat behind my. My first two girlfriends names were Keran and I met them on two different continents. When I turned 18 the drinking age turned to 18 and when I turned 21 it changed to 21. As soon as I was elible for the draft it was abolished. Shortly after Dr. Martin Luther King was assissinated I went from an almost all white school to one with only four whites. Shortly after I moved to St. Petesburg, Fl. there was a huge riot in my area and the National Gaurd was called out. - Kendall Edwin Plummer

Coincidence: I was playing poker with friends one night. I shuffled the deck a bit while we were waiting to start playing, and I asked my friend what he thought the top card was. He guessed the four of diamonds, and was right. We all figured it wasnt a big deal. After all, he had a one in fifty-two chance, which was impressive but only lucky. We decided to test him again. I shuffled and he called the eight of clubs. Again, he was right. The odds on him doing it twice in a row is one out 2604. I think. I never could grasp statistics. To make things even more insane, his first hand was those same two cards(we were playing texas hold-em, in which each player begins with two cards). He ended up getting a full house on that hand. Like I said, I\'m not good with statistics, but I know the probability of that situation is astronomical. Of course, the possibility that you would be where you are right now reading this is for more unlikely, and it is happening. Anything is possible. - Jim Rome

For the past week I have been going into a coffee shop and the table number I have received everyday so far is 41. Friday I went in with a friend and didn't receive a number... Saturday went to a different coffee shop no where near the one above and believe it or not received table number 41. My husband reakons it must be the only table number however I have looked and haven't seen the number and then bam its there. Any explainations would be much appreciated. - jane

Coincidence: I had a very weird dream around 3 or 4 in the morning. It consist of my family getting in the truck and leaving me behind. I yelled for them and all I got for a reply was "Your great grandfather says he'll never forget you." from my dad. I woke up in a daze around 5 in the morning. I stumbled downstairs, into the kitchen to see my dad making his lunch before going to work. Instead of saying "Don't leave me behind." or something I said "You haven't talked to Granddaddy (my great grandfather) in awhile. Call him today. No, call him as soon as you can. Seriously. You need too." Oddly enough, my dad called him that evening to find him not there. He called my grandfather and found out my great grandfather had gone to the hospital at 6 in the morning (5 in the morning our time). My dad, truly astonished, called me a psychic for a whole week. I didn't pretty much forgot the coindidence until I started reading your coindidences page. Odd, no? - Kali

d.j i live in scotland and used to axchange letters with a mate in yorkshire till he died he was an avid writer where i was slow to reply and my wife would remind me[you better write to bob] one night while watching tv she reminded me again she said he'll be sending you a reminder somehow or other. the tv game show NAME THAT TUNE came on. the first contestant was a robert blake,my mates name,he came from yorkshire like my mate the first tune he identified was HEART OF MY HEART my mates one and only party piece he got to the 1,000 final tune question but failed to identify it. it was called THE ASHGROVE and ASHGROVE was my mates address these facts can be verified in tv archives. needless to say i wrote a letter that night - jim lawler

I have a twin sister (not particularly close) and we both have three children, two girls and a boy all beginning with the initials J, S and L in that order. We both had one in February and one in October, both our boys are left-handed. Now one of my daughters has three children and guess what their initials are J, S and L. - pauline stevens

I am a really heavy believer in fate and all that so coincidences really don't bug me that much. Anyway, for the past week really weird happenings have occured. All are in chronological order. Wednesday - Was writing up a story on the computer when the power went off. I did not save for I was almost done and I did not even get a chance to print before hand. I was kinda upset but thought nothing of it. C'est la vie, right? Anyway, so I go upstairs and very clumsily locate the flashlight. A little of half an hour passes then the power comes back on. The beeping of everyting turning on is heard. Suddenly my computer says 'Printing started' (if you have this Lexmark...I think it's Lexmark...you will know what I am talking about). I come down stairs, the screen is blank and all 24 pages are printed out. Friday - I thought I should call my Grandpa to see how he is doing (Cancer and needs a hip replacement). As soon as I said "I should call my grandpa." the phone rings and I do not need to tell you who it is. Sunday Night - Decided to try out some Priestess rituals and ask for rain and today (Monday) da da dum ... THUNDERSHOWER! Now, even though I believe in fate and all the jazz, I am becoming a little paranoid due to the fact that a dream I have been having continously COULD come true. - Johanna

We used to live in a bungalow alongside the main road into our town. As a result, once or twice a year we would have someone knock on the door to ask for directions. The bungalow stood alone with the next neighbour some 500 yards away. One day, whilst I was at work, my wife telephoned me to say that a car containing four men of middle-eastern appearance had parked on our drive and had remained there for some time. My wife was somewhat bothered by this but was too scared to approach them to ask them to leave. I got home within half an hour but they had gone. Two days later in the early evening we heard a knock at the door. I opened the door to find three american servicemen who had broken down outside my bungalow. They needed to use the telephone as they should have been back on camp earlier that day. It was September 11th and the terrorists had struck the twin towers. All american servicemen had been ordered back to base. We pushed the broken down car onto my drive, exactly where the four middle-eastern men had been parked just two days prior. A strange coincidence, for my driveway! - John Keith

I had been to Spain for a long girlie weekend with seven of my friends who happen to be my neighbours. On the flight home my friend Nolene told me that while out walking a few days previous she had found a really nice gold bracelet about 2 miles from where we live. This prompted me to tell her that I had misplaced a gold bracelet the previous week, but I believed it to be somewhere in my house. I described it to her and she said it sounded very like the one she had found. I said that mine was very easily recognisable as it had an extra link that was not like the others. When we got home she inspected the bracelet and of course it had the extra link, it was mine. It turned out that we had both walked the same route that day, me at 7.30 am and she at around 11.00 am. It must have fallen off my wrist and layed there for three and a half hours till she went past. But how strange that she told the story to me, as there were eight of us in the group. - sharon

Family Birthdays: I am born on the 3rd of November, which is the same day of my mothers birthday. My husbands birthday is the 7th June, the same day as his Dad. Both of our little boys ( born two years apart) are the 5th November. I would have been stoked to have one of the on 3rd of November. But will settle with them both sharing the same date. I call this situation Birthday Genes - Melissa Graham

I am enjoying reading through some of these coincidental stories. I thought I would share mine with you. My Mother was born in 1936 on December 24th. I was born on December 24th. For most of my birthdays, I was allowed to pick a present from under the Christmas tree to open on my birthday. It made no matter. I always felt so special that this was how I got my birthday presents. And just knowing my birthday was on the same day as my Mom's made it so special for me. The family would sing Happy Birthday to both of us together. When I was a young girl I prayed that one day when I have children I would have a girl on our birthday. Don't you know...my first child I knew all through the pregnancy would be a beautiful boy. And he was. The second time I got pregnant...I told everyone right away that I knew it was going to be a girl and she would be born on my Mom's and my birthday - Christmas Eve. When the Doctor told me my baby was going to be due about January 3, I told him nope, I am sure it's going to be a girl and she is going to be born on December 24th. And she was. No accidents , nothing, just watching t.v. went into l! abor and she was born that evening. Wonder what the odds are having 3 generations of women born on same day.

I have been lately pestered by "All at once" coincidences and for that I need a proper term and input and cooperation hehehehe... Last night is a good example... 22:50 - my mobile phone rings... don't wanna answer.. bed time.. so I just look up who it is.. Someone I hven't heard from for ages, not via email, nor via SMS.. so he calls I don't answer... phone goes dead.. then there is a "beep" for a voice mail.. then the phone rings again - this time it is somebody from Poland, probably my sister, I don't answer, check email - email from one guy from Poland just arrived... beep on mobile phone, more voice messages, beep again, SMS messages... blah... This all happened within 5 minutes.. it was like a storm and then back to silence again hehehehe... it is freaky. You know.. those energies...I can feel it through my forum, MadBoard. sometimes there is nothing for weeks.. and sometimes there is this sudden outburst of energy and everybody is doing something and spitting stuff out....
The BEST example for all this are of course events such as when I felt really bad and close to death... I received about 5 SMS messages from various parts of the World from people who SMS me few times a year.. they all arrived within few hours..it was just totally freaky and of course... VERY NICE!!!!! :)

Due to my own personal bizarre experiences I am intrigued with coincidental occurences. In 2000 my grandmother was diagnosed with Cancer in which I had already lost my grandfather to the terminal ill disease...during the summer heat wave of 2001, a week before the 6 year date of my grandfathers death my mother had a horrible feeling that my grandmother would die on the same day as my grandfather the 5th of July...her prediction was correct. Not only did they die on the same day, but of the same death. other freaky coincidences happen in my dreams. I had a dream of my grandmother trying to communicate with me through the light of my stair landing, every time i asked the light if it was my Nan it would flash really bright. that morning I woke up went downstairs and told my mum about my dream then whilst on the way up the stairs to have a wash the samelight as in my dream flashed bright then the fuse went. out of the 365 days of the year the same light in my dream decided to break on the same morning of my dream...how odd is that!

Freaky chance meetings: I have been reading your pages and would like to tell you about a few freakish happenings that have happened to me.
About 6 months ago, after a night out I met this guy called Matt at a Lewisham train station, we started chatting on train then shared a cab to both homes,as he lived close by to me and we started dating. It was quite intense for about two months but he decided to end it (i won't bore you with the details) but since then I have had two freaky chance meetings with him, and not near to where we live either. The first time I had been out in town for some birthday drinks after work with a friend, we were at London Bridge train station getting a hamburger, I had just started stuffing it into my mouth when i kinda turned around and he is standing in front of me?? My face must have been a picture!!!? He is a printer & works late shifts til 11pm. He doesn't usually go home via London Bridge, but as he gets out early on this said night, he decided to get last orders at the pub at London Bridge station. Random & Freaky!?! That was about 3 months ago. Then today (Saturday) I was on the way home from my cousins house and at Charing Cross station, who comes out from the ticket barriers...Yes, you guessed it, Matt walking straight towards me. I know it could be put down to coincidences and yeah usually i would say as we both work up town, and use trains alot. But today is Saturday, I am not normally in London at weekend, and I know he isn't keen on going up there either apart from work? Is there such a thing as ESP? Foresight? Or is it just a case of right place, right time ?? It has freaked me a bit i must say.

Coincidence
Yesterday I heard of a coincidence that I can't seem to get out of my head so thought I would share it with you. Back in 1953 my husband's Grandmother and Grandfather lived in Holbrook, Suffolk and then some years later when they retired moved to Felixstowe (she still does) and they bought a Beach Hut from a couple who live in Ipswich. The date and address came to light yesterday as his Grandmother sorted out some old papers.
About two years ago her then neighbour D, due to circumstances beyond her control had to sell up and move to Ipswich. This very week that ex neighbour has sent our Grandmother and us, an invitation to her 50th Birthday party. She wanted us to RSVP to her address which coincidentally is the same address as the beach hut was brought from.
I call that coincidence or is it spooky?

Coincidence
Hey Eadon, I love coincidence stories, and I have one of my own I'd like to share. Well, it starts out with my family going on a trip to an unknown destination(I forget where we were on route to going). My mom and her sister haven't talked to each other for a long time before this trip (just to keep that in mind). But anyway, all of a sudden, my mom starts talking about my Grandmother, which is her mother. About 5-10 minutes pass and we are stopped at a street light, when all of a sudden we see my mom's sister and her family in the car RIGHT BEHIND US!!! Just to keep in mind, our family and my Aunt's family were going on separate trips and never knew of anything that was about to happen. Also, after talking to my mom, she never remembered even talking about my grandmother(that had passed by the way). BELIEVE IT OR NOT!!!

As a child we used to go to epsoms derby day every year. The time I'm going to tell you about was 1980. The whole family used to travel down about 30 members or so of our extended family. On this day my mum had somehow lost her wedding ring. The family searched everywhere for it but it was never found. The outing to epsom continues to be a yearly thing for our family but without my mother who unfortunately passed away in 1987. I was 13 at the time . I'm now 28 with 2 children of my own last year on our annual outing to the derby my son who was bored stiff started digging around the grass and pulled out nothing less then my mothers wedding ring proved by the ingraving inside made by my father.

Coincidence
This is a weird coincidence/premonition that happened to me. Two years ago my mother fell ill, but it didn't seem like it was anything major. She took a couple of days off of work and figured she'd be fine by the following day. The night she became ill I had a dream in which I went to visit her during my lunch hour and couldn't find her. I went through every room of her house, and even into the basement and back yard, but there was no sign of her. Her car was in the garage, and I knew she was home because her door was unlocked, which she would never do if she weren't home. Anyway, I finally found her facedown on the floor wedged between the sofa and coffee table. I dialled 911 and went to check her house numbers on her house because I was so upset I couldn't remember them. The 911 dispatcher asked me to turn down TV sound because she couldn't hear me. The dream was so clear I even remember what I was wearing and how my hair was done. I never mentioned this dream to my mom because I didn't want to scare her and I figured it was just a dream, even though it was so vivid and clear 2 days later when I went to her house during my lunch hour, couldn't find her, looked through her house, finally found her wedged between the coffee table and sofa, called 911, had to look on her house for the numbers AND the dispatcher asked me to turn her TV down because she couldn't hear me. It wasn't until about 12 hours later that the "coincidence" of this hit me and I realized I had been wearing the same outfit as in my dream. There is no way in my mind that this is not something paranormal!

I grew up in Tasmania, a small island state just south of Mainland Australia. When I was 23 I moved to the Mainland to find work, I had been living there about 2 months when something quite strange happened...
I was watching TV one day and one of the characters in the movie was named Mark, which made me think about an old friend by the same name whom was living in Tasmania. We hadn't spoken to for almost a year, and left on bad terms, but I decided I wanted to call him and try and patch things up. I couldn't remember his phone number, but I knew it was on my old C.V. because he had provided me with a reference a year before, so I went out the back shed to find it.
After about 5 minutes I was still unable to find my C.V. when suddenly the phone rang... you already know who it was, don't you? It was Mark of course! He was calling to ask me to attend an auction in Melbourne because he was unable to get a flight. I remember saying "MARK!!!! Holly shit, I was just about to call you!!"

About three years ago I was living a few miles from my mom's. My Mom had just bought a house. There was this cat the wouldn't go away. We think it belonged to the previous owners. My Mom is allergic, and tried everything to get this cat to go away. Finally she asked me to get ride of it. This is awful but it's true I took the cat 15 miles from my house and dropped it off. I looked in my rear view window and it was just looking at me like why The F*** anyway. I went home went to work and that night I had this really bizarre dream. my front door was opened and I was lying on the living room floor and the cat came in jumped on me and hissed at me. It was pissed. I was using those cigarettes patches. They make your dreams really vivid. I figured it was my guilt, but a few days later I was really laying on my living room floor with the door opened and the cat came in. now it didn't hiss at me, it just purred and tried to make nice. I freaked! The cat had never been to my house! Weird huh. I figured it smelled my truck or something, the dream however I can't explain. I've had other dreams and the stuff comes true. I had another dream that a friend of mine came to me asking me to help him, He looked really demonic, Three days later my brother called and told me he died... I hadn't seen him in a few years before the dream...This stuff actually happened to me! I believe in God, or a universal mind or whatever you want to call it. For sure!

I met my current girlfriend in a nightclub in Cheltenham. A few days later we met up for the first time for lunch together. We go back to her place (not what it sounds (ish!)) and as I walk in I see some photos on the TV of her and her university friends. It just happens that her best friend at university is my cousin from South Wales, the only member of my quite large family other than me who doesn't live in Wales. And the cousin who I happen to be by far the closest to. What are the chances of meeting one of the two girls in Cheltenham who is best friends with my cousin!

Its quite annoying too actually, as everything I do/did gets to my cousin, then to my aunt and then to my mother. And vice-versa! Not good...

When I was at my grandmothers funeral in St. Louis, my father was reminiscing with his grade school buddies. They were trying to remember who the catcher was on their softball team. One of the guys spoke up and said, "I think it was Kenny Kreikemeier." Well I couldn't believe it because that was the name of a senior sales rep in my company! It is such an unusual name that I knew it had to be the same guy. Sure enough it was!

Coincidence Left school in 1973-never been back. Some 8 years later met the guy who was next to me on the school register, collecting his flight tickets at a travel agency. I was collecting mine and whilst we were to travel on the same day he was heading to the Spanish islands and I was destined for mainland Spain. Exchanged pleasantries and joked that I would see him at the airport if his plane was delayed.

The next time I saw him was as he came up the steps of the hotel the next Saturday morning!---his flight had been overbooked and travelers were asked if they minded flying to Malaga on mainland Spain. Dave volunteered as he had never been to the mainland.

The amazing thing was that whilst he didn't know where I was traveling to he ended up not only in the same hotel but also in the NEXT bedroom

Coincidence Here's a coincidence involving a next door neighbor from my past. When I lived with my parents, we lived next door to the Story family. I was older than Michelle, the only daughter but we were great friends and I taught her to drive and we went places together all the time. I found out while living beside of Michelle that a neighbor from our former neighborhood who lived a couple of houses down used to babysit Michelle when she was a toddler. Well, after I moved away and married Bob, we became friends with Sara, our neighbor a couple of house below us. A couple of weeks ago Sara was talking about some former neighbors of hers from years ago and mentioned a Story family and named the children and she was talking about babysitting the daughter. It turns out that Sara had lived next door to the same Story family and had babysat Michelle and her two younger brothers when the boys were toddlers!

And here's a little coincidence about Sara. Sara was talking one day about a house where she and her late husband had lived many years ago. She said that the house was a small house connected to a store. I told her that was neat because my cousin Bruce had lived in a small house that was connected to a store a long time ago when he was a young child. I asked her where her former house was located and it was the very same house that my cousin and his mother had lived in. And I also found out that the store used to belong to my late Grandfather Greene. My mother had mentioned my grandfather owning a store but she'd never mentioned where the store was or that it was the store next to Bruce's house.

Please don't put my real name with my story if you put it on your website. Thanks! And I love your website! I'm always looking up strange coincidences! Have you read the one about Hugh Williams, the survivor of ship wrecks? If you haven't, it's very interesting and is what got me interested in coincidences. Here it is:

On December 5, 1660, a vessel sank in the Straits of Dover, and the only survivor was a fellow named Hugh Williams. Precisely one hundred twenty-one years later, to the day, another disaster in the same waters claimed the lives of all on board, except a fellow with the charmed name of Hugh Williams. On August 5, 1820, when a picnic boat capsized on the Thames, all drowned with the exception of a five-year-old boy, Hugh Williams. The maritime annals would seem to have finished with this amazing sequence after three such incidents, but that was not the case. On July 10, 1940, a British trawler was destroyed by a German mine and only two men survived. They were related, uncle and nephew, and both were named Hugh Williams.

Coincidence In 1989 I was having a porch built on the front of my house. The builder who had won the tender had just bought a house about 6 miles away and told me that he'd work on my house in the morning and his in the afternoon. I agreed so long as it was completed by 15th July 1989 when I was getting married and then moving into the house.
About 8 weeks before the wedding he rang me at work to tell me the following. At his house he'd discussed with his wife about placing another window in his lounge to bring more light to the room.
He made the hole with a hammer and chisel and placed debris into a skip. Bricks, rubble and half an old newspaper were placed into the skip. His wife brought him a cup of tea whilst by the skip. Whilst drinking his tea he then just flicked open the half newspaper (dated 12 Sept 1962) to a random page - to his surprise his eyes met with a section that read "Births - congratulations Chris and John on the birth of your son Robert" - this was me !!! I was born the day earlier on 11th Sept and my parents had submitted this news to the paper - I now have two copies of the paper as it is the only paper my parents have ever kept!
This makes me wonder how many builders have found my birth announcement half papers in walls and just not managed to read the article!

Coincidence I dreamed I was playing a baseball game where if you struck out you got turned into an animal. My wife was struck out and she was turned into a sheep. The next day I received an email about the Dalai Lama Personality Test, which discussed the symbology of animals - and the sheep represents the person you love.
I was relating this coincidence to my wife while watching a Saturday Night Live re-run. The episode had dead rock stars forming a new group. The group was disbanded and Buddy Holly got reincarnated as... a sheep.

My father died under strange circumstances on 16 November 1983. I was 16 at the time and it was quite traumatic for me for some time. On 16 November 1992 my daughter Andrea was born 16 days overdue. Strange but true.

[Notice what happens if you multiply the numbers in the years 1983 and 1992. 1x9x8x3 is 216 and 1x9x9x2 is 162. Remove the digit 2 from each number and you get 16! It's contrived but I like it :) - Jim]

Coincidence A journalist on a local paper asked me a couple of years ago to help her with a bit of local history. She asked if she could call to borrow a couple of photographs. When I gave my address she could not believe it because she had lived in our house as a child.

When she came she brought her mother and the two of them enjoyed the little tour round, especially in the garden. Just before they left the mother mentioned that she and her husband had lived in another part of town when they were first married and I said that we had also. "What was the address?" she asked, and when I told her she could not believe it. It was the same house that they had first lived in! Spooky eh?
