After a match the fans of the
victorious team have higher testosterone levels in their
blood. Chemical addiction explains why people go to
extremes to watch sport. But why do so many fans believe
they know better than the professional players they
watch? In chess, nobody seriously thinks they can judge
the next move better than a grandmaster (unless they
themselves are a grandmaster) Yet sport fans never tire
of screeching advice at their team until they are blue
in the face. Why?
Obviously the common and garden sports fan thinks
(s)he is better qualified to analyse his/her
sport than the professionals. Given the daft
utterances of English football managers and
players, the fan is probably justified in thinking
this :)
