I'm awaiting the arrival of my next desktop PC: I will install Linux and am rather looking forward to The Switch. I'm prepared for a few teething problems - getting the digital camera to upload pics, getting the wireless network card working, that sort of thing. Although apparently Linux is pretty good at that stuff these days. It will be nice to be rid of the disaster that is Windows XP, let me explain why.

On the other hand, Linux is a vastly superior operating system and improving fast. I tried it a few years ago, but the apps were not quite there. These days Linux, and the apps that run on it, is, for increasing numbers of people, the best system.

I'll write more here soonish, to give my impressions of installing and using Linux. Meanwhile, see open source software and Mozilla.
