Will Eadon | 2006-01-03 13:15:45 | | Subject: | My Name | | Comment: | Hi I get my name from my dad's side, who incidently was born in Yorkshire. My mother's maiden name is Gardiner.......shame I didn't end up with a double barreld surname! I'm interested how many William Eadon's there are in the world today. I enjoyed reading about the heritage etc. | | | | | From: |

They are mentioned in the Doomsday book. There is a village not too far away called Eden which I always assumed was where the origins of the name came from. Can anyone else throw any light on this? | | | | | From: |

I was born in Newcastle Upon Tyne, in the same hospital as my mother was. My father and grandfather were from the same area, with family in Yorkshire and Scotland.
There are only five Eadon males here in Canada, and we are all related.
I have traced the name myself back as far as 1729. I am well aware of the Eadons in Australia, and indeed there is somewhat of a clan in the US. It seems we all have one thing in common: our employment, for the majority of us are either university professors, college instructors, or school teachers. It runs in the family. Obviously, our ancestors believed in a good education. Something the Eadons can be proud of, as we pass on what we have learned to other generations. | | | | | From: |

Stuart Padmore | 2009-06-06 10:49:15 | | Subject: | Eadon as a middle name | | Comment: | Hi
I owe a lot ( long story ) to my Great GrandFather. His name was Arthur Eadon Taylor - I have never heard of Eadon as a middle name anywhere. My Mother does not know why her Grandfather would have that middle name and the limit bit of family tree work I have done has not produced a distant ancestor with that name perhaps as a surname....
Arthur Eadon died in 1937 and lived in Sale, Manchester
Cheers

Wendy Eadon | 2009-06-19 07:20:11 | | Subject: | Aussie Eadons | | Comment: | I wonder if I am not part of that Eadon pair that moved to Australia. I married Russell Eadon in 1982. Son of Mike and Christine who imigrated to Australia from Battersea London around 1968 when he was 12. Russ is the only son with two sisters. We have a daughter and two sons Trevor 27 and Christopher 25 to carry on the family name. but so far only reproducing two grandaughters. | | | | | From: |
Anthony Eadon-Mills | 2011-04-03 00:12:00 | | Subject: | Eadon | | Comment: | Hello,
I married an Eadon, Valerie, to be exact,
and the name was so precious to her that we adopted it into our married name.
Our line stemmed from Napton on the Hill, in Warwickshire, UK
As already reported, there is a village about 10 Kilometres away called Eydon, and I have often wondered about perhaps that was the origin of the name.
I have traced back to 1789, a Charles Eadon, from Itchington, Warwickshire, but that is as far as I can detect. Some people refered to him as Captain Charles Eadon.
Would that be a military title, or perhaps Naval connection. The more recent Eadon's of Napton, were innkeepers and coal merchants. Anyone got more to add please. | | | |
