America's Sweethearts is a gutless
satire of Hollywood. Billy Crystal plays an
immoral but affable publicist hired by an immoral
Studio head for a damage litigation exercise
regarding a blah blah blah.
This movie is a romantic comedy which tries
half-heartedly to be satirical, but cannot bring
itself to bare its teeth. It wants to be cuddly.
So we are left with an empty, witless, fluffy
love story involving characters that were frankly
unconvincing and ghastly. The movie was plastic,
like a big mac. For America's Sweethearts
to be a Hollywood satire is ironic, for this
bland movie itself represents much of what is
wrong with Hollywood. Oh well.
Catherine Zeta Jones actually acted a bit. And
Julia Roberts was terrible, but I don't care
fir her anyway, don't know why. Have you noticed
that when she smiles it is reminiscent of the
dentist scene in Coneheads? Say Ah!

The ending was utter shite. So false.
So, UGH! I cringed for the last half hour
of this film. Utter syrupy, unconvincing
crap.

This movie is bad for the careers of all involved.
At least it would be ironic. Having said that,
I still luv CZJ.
