Good review of the movie. The ending was rather poor, though. But several scenes were very enjoyable, even though overall, it was a little-above-average action movie. Arny is just cool, if you can look at his movies from a certain point of view. Not too seriously, and just don't try to think of details and plot-lines.
I just watched Collateral Damage on TMN expecting to see Arnie in another kick-ass movie. I wasn't looking for an Oscar performance movie, after all is an action movie...but this movie was asking the audience to swallow an unbelievable plot: an american fireman driven by revange for the death of his family is able to easily penetrate a guerilla occupied zone and kill their leader.
The movie did have some surprises and good action scenes, but overall, this movie is not better then The Last Action Hero.
It seems that Americans are fascinated with the idea that one of theirs can take over an army with their bear hands.... life is not a video game!!! ;-P
Is it just me who thinks you have completely missed the point of the movie. True: it's not a great movie and comes under the almost fantasy genre, but there is a definite message there. It is not about lame fight scenes where people try to blow each other to bits, it is about sensitive ethical issues, who is right in such warfare? This is made especially significant following the events of 9/11. Did you forget to include the main point of the movie in your review, or are you just stupid
