From the first time I saw A Knights Tale I was totally compelled by it. It's one of the few movies that pulls of action, comedy & romance so well. I didn't think there was to much time spent on the romance aspect of the plot... and just a side note, the reason William doesn't go for his female blacksmith is because there is an obvious connection between her and Roland (one of Williams faithful sidekicks...) check out the deleted scenes on the DVD and you'll truly see it.....
Without a doubt one of the worst movies in the history of cinema. A load of ludicrous hooey from beginning to end. Woefully predictable, apallingly acted with a sound track simply designed to get them through the door. Heath Ledger's acting is more wooden than the endlessly crashing lances in this load of cinematic dross.
Simply appalling rubbish

A Knights Tale
This movie has all: a good story (simple, seen before and after, but here with a twist), GREAT actors, Rock music (and other anachronisms to make us understand the excitement of the medieval way of life).
Moulin Rouge used the music and dance anachronism ploy in a speculative manner (and boring), and THAT movie got a lot of credit and is less than half as good as A KNIGHTS TALE.
It's a big surprise that A Knights Tale has been so overlooked as it has.
I agree with everything you say about this film. I have watched it soooooooooo many times on DVD and I cannot understand how anyone could not like it. Yes Mr smart arse, you are right that on the DVD extras there is a relationship between Roland and Laura (which is also clear in the film if you had looked closely enough) but they are a completely mis-matched coupled so Will should have got her. The princess (Joseline) is a spoiled b*tch who should be put down.
