one hour photo

One Hour Photo is about a rather
sad, boring individual who's entire life revolves
around his work. His work is developing photos
in a - duh - one-hour-photo-developing
lab. He substitutes his own life with that
of an idyllic, squeaky clean, beautiful family
whose pics he has been secretly copying and
hoarding. Over the years his obsession with
the family has grown to monumentally unhealthy
proportions.
This movie is much more intelligent than it
at first appears however. Most of our younger
friends will not like this very much, except
for a dash of nudity. This is a psychological
and a moral tale. Personally I thought it
was a very nice movie indeed. The direction
is quite imaginative, and the music is haunting
and beautiful. Oh, and this is the second
movie I have seen lately where Robin Williams
is very good. Damn. Now I'll grudgingly have
to remove him from my worst
actors list. One Hour Photo
didn't move me, but it held my interest: it
is a philosophical movie. Even if the philosophy
is simplistic, I liked it. I'm not used to
modern American moves that even TRY to think.

The ending seems innocuous until you realise that
Williams is free to stalk the family again.
Surely this is not a good thing. This
is one of the nice things about this movie,
it is ambiguous.
What he says is true though. Those of
us who have wonderful things are prone
not to know it.
What about that dream sequence eh? Bloody
hell!
