yeah i saw hannibal too. love the hollywood shorthand for the villain, simplified from the novel in which he is an accomplice in mass murder, now he is a paedophile and worse than Lector...
So many awful things about this film, since i recently listed all the instances of hollywood shorthand in this film to a friend i haven't the energy to do so once more.
But let me leave you with a question: How on earth does a one armed serial killer with a bloody stump and a gourmet lunchbox manage to catch a flight out of the USA with the entire FBI after him? did they not tell anyone at the airport to be on the look out for such a person? are they commonplace?
Hannibals arm - on the other hand, airlines still let fundamentalist islamic terrorists with bombs in their shoes on planes, (post Sept 11 2001 WTC terror) so maybe Hannibal (the movie) wasn't so far fetched after all - the airlines *still* don't care about security
Well Dr... 11th of Sep changed this all, didn't it? Hanibal was a tame lamb really.... they let other, much more sinnister ppl on the planes damn them!!! HAHHAHAHAHAHA (whip whip)
eadon-com(103): madders - people will be expecting a review, so a stream of consciousness like the director is jesus is not what they wil be expecting :P Magnolia is truly personal film. It is one of those films one can watch few times during one's life without any significant impact on one's life. But where the moment is right, the right emotions and feelings flowing, the right state of mind accidently achieved... then this film will simply blow your mind away. Hence this is not 'Cinema' film, it is truly and fully 'personal' Video or DVD accusition, so one can keep it at home and watch when the 'moment is right'... Mangolia is a flower...we all usually have flowers around us... we all experienced the discovery of the flower's beauty at one point in time or other, despite the fact that we looked at it for the last 5 years... Magnolia is discovering a beauty of this flower... the flower which was around us all our life... Magnolia is not a film in a strict sense... Magnolia is a TRAILER to the film... just very very long trailer... the film never 'starts' but it does finish... the last 2 minutes are the most powerful scene I have ever seen (which became even more powerful when I put subtitles on - for I could now understand that the guy was saying as well hehehehe)...so here is personal touch... I was missing 99% percent of the ending because I did not have subtitles on... but at home I can just 'flick' them on.. could not do it in cinema....Not to mention the fact that I watched this ending for 1.5 hours... everytime I told myself 'this is last time' and then I had to rewind... obsession... enough...
