Madpole.. I read with interest your review of Predator. I don't agree with your conclusions that Preadtor lacks 'consistency, integrity and clearly defined story line', but that aside, I ask you why this interpretation of hgher purpose, that you go on to try to accertain, is even necessary?
Who knows why the Predator was on earth any more than we knew why Godzilla liked to mow down big transmission lines? I do know that most movies who have attempted sequels to try to embellish and broaden the storyline have delivered a product that is usually poor and that almost always degrades the original.
I do know that the moview was highly entertaining and packed with action. I also know that the Predator got off to a quick start, built up a big lead, but was beaten in the bottom of the ninth by a Schwarzenegger who changed strategy, went feral and beat him at his own game.
Predator was a movie to be enjoyed, not one in which to pull out the Rorschach to try to develop some sort of compassion for your enemies or to try to figure out why Harry doesn't love Sally. Your final spin on this movie was quite bizzare, to be absolutely blunt.
hi maddie - glad to see u r still around although not on icc :( ________________________(this thing don't do paragraphs)_________________________ok i can't understand how you got the 'love your enemy' thing from predator. In what way did arnie love the hateful alien? If the ultimate goal of love for one's enemy is to get rid of him/her/it, is that really love? Is that a love you would wish for someone you really loved?______________________Look the thing was a good old-fashioned fight fest - i mean - how deep can it be? If i yodel into a canyon, and the echo comes back sounding its depths - is the canyon deep, or was my yodel? Just a thought. Toodles... Talon
