| Comment: | chapter 48+49
There's so much going on now that it's an enormous task to deal with every aspect of these two chapters. The characters haven't changed since Howard's flight to mainland Europe. I was a little bit afraid that the conversations would be as predictable as before, especially Greg's jokes, that's why I was relieved when Greg for once couldn't think of a nice one-liner when everybody was expecting one from him. This saved the chapter. It was quite predictable that Jacintha wasn't dead and it became very obvious when Howard cut off Gallie when she was going to say something about Jacintha. But it's nice to see that suspicion come true in the next chapter. Of course the attentive reader won't move on to the next chapter without having wondered why there was a girl smoking out of the window. We all know that not even one hair can fall from a character's head without the author's will. Hopefully it won't turn out to be an irrelevant detail. Of course, what it's all about is who will get whom. The meaning of love and sex depends on the outcome of the story: If I had to make a bet I would put my money on Howard and Jacintha but it would just be a guess. |
