God. Or rather, I AM God. I found God in the
mirror while shaving. Read on...
There is a concept in many religions that God
is <all-powerful>. Here is a proof
or two that an All-Powerful God
does not exist.
Firstly, is an All-Powerful God subject to
Himself, to His own nature?
If the answer is yes
then he is not All-Powerful as he is
constrained by His own nature.
If the answer is no
then He is also not All-Powerful. This is because
such an All-Powerful God could choose to act
against His own nature. But it's impossible
to act against your own nature because it is
you who is doing the " acting".
The paradox is only resolved if the God is not
All-Powerful.
Either way, the concept of an All-Powerful God
leads to absurd contradictions. This doesn't
rule out a god, just an All-Powerful
god.
Another "proof": If a God is All-Powerful
then he could make all the numbers
odd. This is impossible because an odd number
plus and odd number makes an even number. An
All-Powerful God may then choose to make
2 + 2 = 301516329742309731542.003
This is also impossible. Only accountants can
do that. Therefore an All-Powerful God is impossible,
because he cannot change the behaviour of numbers.
Of course, I might be an All-Powerful God who
is trying to pull the wool over your eyes. This,
as it happens, is true.
Believe in Me!
Worship Me! Give
Me a huge
cheque! Or, better still, a giant sack brimming
with gold pieces! In return I will reserve you
a place in Heaven. For ever. Honest. Tell your
friends the good news! Hurrah!
Have (blind) faith in
Me!
Now that I
have found religion - or rather founded
my own religion, I will put my new
Divine Powers to good use. I will cause my worshipful
followers to make numberless End-Of-The-World
predictions that, humiliatingly, never
come true. I will also make my followers have
creepy personalities, just like followers of
other religions. Then I will make my followers
look like the uneducated fools they are by making
my religion incompatible with science. Nothing
beats a good laff...
