What
does it do to us to be chained to fate? There
is a way to abandon all the guides of doom funnelling
the way to a hell of mediocrity and anonymity.
Please read on...
Great things happen when they are caused by
disruption. Mozart was a genius and his fantastical
work was caused under strange circumstances.
Many believe that his prolific creativity was
driven by his depressions. We all need strange
circumstances to make us do strange things.
The everyday grind produces nothing if no passion
is there.
What can be done to defeat the demons of necessity?
One way is to become reckless and to abandon
common sense and spurn the actions of the sensible.
It may be better to abandon morals and ethics
to achieve great things than live a virtuous
life and have nothing worthwhile to show for
it.
The cost of creativity is the wages of discomfort
and woe. The most creative times in history
were times of upheaval and angst.
There is something lurking in the Universe that
is imponderable and yet so important that we
are all missing it. It is something under our
noses that underpins reality. We do not know
what it is but we can sense it. And this is
the power of the artist, of the charismatic:
to tap into this strange thing that weaves the
fabric of reality. It cannot be grasped. It
cannot be made into a tangible object. The only
thing to do is to expose ourselves to uncertainty.
If we become unhinged then we may find out what
it might be, this unknown. The force that drives
the human mind to creativity is an evolutionary-caused
power to attract mates by doing clever stuff.
Creative power can be awoken by triggering that
subconscious drive. One potent way to tap into
this drive is to trigger the very thing that
nature created creativity for: to get out of
trouble and into a nice, safe situation.
But once you are in that nice, safe situation
then the creative drive is switched off. It
is no longer needed. We are back to static under-achievement.
To prevent this, it must be the case that you
must abandon the comforts and monotony of life
and shake everything up. There is a far more
colourful route to fulfilment and this is the
most dangerous of all. Take your life and throw
everything up in the air. This is the battle
- creativity versus comfort.
