Comment:I believe creativity can be inspired from BOTH misery and happiness and from getting stoned

Subject:creativity
Comment:Creativity in the philosophical sense has been associated with an innate desire to participate in the creation of the world and as an extension, to link with the divine. Unfortunately by associating creativity with such a heightened sense of self it is often thought and misleadingly so, that creativity occurs in spontaneous, vertical ascents of inspiration.

Comment:I agree that we all need change in our lives to break up the ritual of our daily routines. Life can be monotonous and there are those that are comfortable knowing what each day entails for them. However there are others that require or need a certain amount of danger in their lives to stimulate them or even because they feel that without taking the occassional risk they do not get a sense that they are living independently, that their life is not really a life without taking a chance.

Subject:Causes of Creativity
Comment:I personally believe that misery is the root of most creativity. When people are happy, they are content and therefore do not look for ways to express themselves. Happy people just go with the flow. Misery loves company. People who happen to be miserable try to find ways to become happy, hence the creativity.

Subject:creativity in artists
Comment:your explanation for why we evolved a 'Creative switch' is quite interesting. and definitly plausible. THat would also explain the stereotype of the dark troubled artist. Most artists are a little disturbed. Being disturbed would alter your perception of reality and maybe make you think your life is troubled, and therefore spark your creativity. possible i guess

Subject:Why does misery love company?
Comment:The cause of misery in a person is generally due to other people, and the solution always lies in introspection and understanding. Introspection invariably makes a person depressed, or worse confused, and so that person seeks other people's help, for better clarity, or to just come out of it. I suppose this is why the miserable like company. I'm miserable, which is why I'm thinking so much!!
