Evil

Evil is a good thing.

Why? How on Earth can evil ever be good?

An Evil Thought Experiment: A world exists called Goodyworld, a place where evil does not exist. Goodyworld is inhabited by the Goodians.

The Goodians, then, do not have free will. For free will implies considering all possibilities, even evil ones. And evil is not permitted on Goodyworld.

Therefore, if one wishes to have free will, one must accept evil as, literally, a necessary evil. QED.

Implications for religion: a super-powerful, freethinking god (if one exists - a monumental if!) cannot be all good. So any super-powerful god has an evil side, just like us. Then it would seem extremely hypocritical of a god to be displeased by humans being evil. In the same way that all matter and energy in the universe ultimately originates from the Big Bang, then, if you believe in a god, it seems inescapable that all evil must, ultimately, owe its origins in your god, freewill or no freewill.
