Holroyd, Christopher M. | 2001-03-13 17:43:59 | | Subject: | Prayer futility | | Comment: | If by prayer you mean beseeching, asking, begging for this or that temporal event or thing then I'd say prayer is useless, maybe even a sign of daftness on the part of the pray-er. But if the definintion of prayer is extended somewhat to include meditation, pensiveness, the purposeful calm one assumes deliberately, then 'prayer' may be an important aspect of being human. The blue fish that we all are (love that analogy Jim), if he or she were a Buddhist and a smart one would not ask 'God' for anything. Rather, with the understanding of his or her condition he or she wouldn't waste his or her bubbles/breath importuning a deaf mute. | | | | | From: |
Matt | 2004-07-28 00:30:21 | | Subject: | God | | Comment: | Apparently you have never studied the subject yourself. If you did, you would find that He MUST exist and that He is very different than what you find in most churches. As for prayer, just because God is all-powerful and all-knowing doesn't obligate Him to rescue His creation. He made everything perfect and we screwed it up. Now He has prepared another perfect place for us...and we can't screw it up this time!
Also, don't look for rationale to believe. That would negate faith and this is a faith issue. | | | | | From: |

God is real and he does listen to the prayers of His children. We do not always like His answers but they are His answers so we accept them. He knows what is needed for His plan to work.
Belivers do not always get the answers they want. If we did all people would jump on the God train for what they could get and not because we love Him. He wants us to love Him for who He is and not what benifets we can get from Him.

MadPole | 2005-11-19 12:56:30 | | Subject: | READ YOUR OWN WORDS! | | Comment: | By your own argument, the ONLY hope, the ONLY chance the blue fish had to be saved is to beg You, yes YOU, to take it out of the tank. It could not run away, it could not defend itself, the very life of this fish was in your hands. So how can You say that prayer is futile, if, in your own story, praying to You was the only, and I reapeat, THE ONLY chance for this little poor fishie to be saved?!!!!! | | | | | From: |
E+L D = aleph0 | 2008-03-19 04:28:43 | | Subject: | god | | Comment: | i believe that is both logical and illogical to believe in god, simply because there is no definite proof of his existance. only perception based on aquired sophistication. that is the human way. dont get me wrong im not saying its an impossibilty, only that it is possible for his existance as well as the possibility of his non-existance | | | |
