Music is the most abstract phenomenon known to man (after women that is.)

Music has curious attributes. Music played in a major key is funky and cheerful. Minor keys tend to be melancholic and dreamy. Major seventh chords are tense and nervy. Music is emotional.

Music is abstract. The emotions are abstract. When we feel emotions we are actually feeling nothing but abstraction. If you remember only one thing from these pages, please remember this: health complications aside, it is an abstract matter whether one feels happy or sad. Life can be lived by playing major chords or by playing minor chords. It takes practice to learn a new key, but in the end, one is free to choose the key of the song one plays. That principle is a cornerstone of "The meaning, life, eden, god, theology".

Listening to relentlessly happy music, like eating too much sugar, is usually a mistake. Listen to happy songs and, before one knows it, one feels down. Melancholic music can be uplifting. Life is never simple!

Dancing to music is hardwired into the most primitive and ancient parts of our brains. When we hear a beat, signals are automatically sent by the deep brain to our muscles. Cavemen boogied the Conga. Dancing is instinct.

Even when we speak we speak in musical keys. Everything about us is musical: our language, our emotions and our movements. Our brains are orchestras. Everything we think and everything we do is music.

Music is the key to unlocking the secrets of who we are. We have the key but we don't know how to turn it. Several have come close, geniuses like Mozart, Beethoven, and, closest of all, Johann Sebastian Bach.
