Why is lust like killing a pig? Read on...

The time-honoured sin of lust is the most tantalising of the Deadly Sins. Lust leading to sex can be better than love leading to sex. After all, we love our family but sex with them would be, ahem, sinful.

Not that lust is strictly necessary to have sex with a family member. The Delphic Oracle of Greece, (who was a mad old hag spouting gibberish whilst stoned on some geothermal gases) instructed a man who came for counsel to have a child by his daughter. He did. Goes to show the folly of believing "spiritual" people. (Note: modern day Delphic Oracles are called astrologers.)

Lust is differently manifested in men and women. Women need to have some kind of an emotional bond (even if self-delusional) with the man she lusts after. Generally, men are less fussy and will cheerfully lust after a vindictive monster of a female provided her breasts are well formed. (Men have even been known to lust after lady scousers, though they might not be able to find neither wallet nor hubcaps in the morning.)

And this brings us to the making love verses shagging paradox: women make love, men shag. Both pursuits, which conceptually cannot be more different, are the same act. That is why lust is like a farmer killing a pig. The pig only exists for our nourishment, yet its opinion of giving up its life to feed us is rather different from the farmer's viewpoint. When all is said and done, the entire imbroglio stems from our aching for pleasure; for money or for meat. To pork or not to pork, that is the question.
